Centennial's Newsday Tuesday
Centennial Elementary Families' Weekly Newsletter 9/14/21
A Note from the Principal
I hope my message finds you and yours well and enjoying this lovely weather!
Boosterthon, our most helpful Centennial fundraiser, kicks off this week! The money raised from this fundraiser will be used to benefit our students' learning and well-being, and we could not fund all of the distinctive, creative projects at our campus without your help. Thank you in advance for supporting us with this (more details are below)!
Thank you for all each of you are doing to support health at Centennial; Ms. Hill, our wonderful Assistant Principal and "Covid Captain" happily reported today that we are seeing less need for quarantining and an increase in attendance. This is fantastic news! To ensure students who are on quarantine keep learning, I've begun dropping "at home learning resources" into the bottom of the newsletter. I hope this helps!
A new feature that will be coming soon to our weekly newsletter is our "Counselors' Corner" and will include tips and tricks for families to use at home to reinforce the social-emotional curriculum being used in our Edmond elementary schools.
In Edmond Public Schools, we implement an amazing positive-behavior program called "Conscious Discipline." One of the foundations of this program is that effective discipline is rooted not in punishment, but in teaching the right behaviors. For a preview of some great ideas about teaching your child to make good choices, check out the "Conscious Discipline"website's parent / family section here. I completed the weeklong Conscious Discipline training this past summer and am amazed at how effective the strategies are... I definitely recommend it and hope you'll find this resource helpful.
Until next week, I wish you well!
Kind regards,
Ellie Webb, Principal

Centennial Families are Simply THE BEST!
Families, our PALS and PTO members are welcome and valuable members of the Centennial Family!
To honor our district's safety protocols, we request that volunteer activities at this time take place in the PALS & PTO rooms on our campus. Thank you for understanding and know that, just like you, we can't wait until we may welcome precious and valued family members in more frequently! For more information about these safety protocols, please click here.
In Case of Absence
Families, did you know that you may call 405-726-4699 any time to leave a message regarding your student's need to be absent or tardy? We encourage this so the phone lines aren’t tied up in the morning during AM drop off. If a family accidentally forgets to call on when a student is absent, an automated call goes out at 10:30 to families who have not yet reported their child is absent as a reminder. Thank you!
