Report Card Reflections for next Quarter
1. When a student grade drops below ME or a C families can receive notification at any time. I have the ability to pay people for working with students and/or families outside of the instructional day until December. Feel free to use these funds if you need to do a conference or meeting with students and students and their families. Remember an interim can be sent at anytime during the semester.
2. Students can not receive below a ME or C without an interim.
3. All interims must be approved by Carmen. We are creating a standard interim form and a standard way to submit these-- information to come about this in upcoming newsletters.
4. Our Schoology gradebooks need to match the grades we are giving. We may need to discuss this as a team. If this is an issue, talk with Heather and/or Christine so we can spend some time during PL to discuss. Families should be able to see their children's grades at anytime.
5. We need at least one grade per week (9) for each subject area. Plan now how you will ensure that students have those number of grades.
Learning curve opportunity. Thank you in advance for your reflections and upcoming discussions about this.
Google Meet Updates
Google Meet - No Host Controls
From Eric Haines - Only the owner of the Meet (first one in) has the host controls. For nicknamed Meets, it does not matter who creates the link. It is the first one to click join that should have the host controls. If you are using an unnamed Meet (which should only be used with parents), then only the creator of the link has the host controls.
With that said, there have been similar reports of teachers not having the host controls even when they are the first in. This shouldn't happen, but Google has acknowledged that it is a bug that they are working on. If you have the blue shield in the bottom left, then you are the owner and have the host controls.
One other thing to try is resetting Chrome. Teachers that have experienced minor glitches in Google Meet have solved them by resetting Chrome. Here are the directions to do that:
RESET CHROME
Issues can often be resolved by resetting Chrome, as follows:
Click the 3 dots in the top-right corner of Chrome and select Settings
On the left side of the screen, click Advanced
In the menu that appears below Advanced, select Reset and clean up
In the middle of the screen, click Restore settings to their original defaults
Click Reset settings
You won't lose anything by doing this, so it’s safe to try when you have issues in Chrome, especially if the issues don’t appear in other browsers, or if the issues appear when using your Chrome account across multiple devices.
RAISE HAND AND GOOGLE BACKGROUNDS
Please watch this video made by Tatiana about the new "raise hand" and "Google Backgrounds" feature that have been populating in Google Meet as well as how to change the order of student names to be alphabetized by last name!

PTA Reimbursement
Teachers and Support Staff,
Again this year, SRES PTA is offering reimbursement of personally purchased school items for teachers and support staff. The PTA is incredibly appreciative of your work and dedication to the students. We know that many of you spend your own money to buy supplies to perfect your educational craft; therefore, we are offering $45 reimbursement for teachers and $25 reimbursement for the support staff who are members of the PTA. If you have not signed up to be a PTA member yet and are interested, please complete the PTA Membership Form.
To request reimbursement for your personally purchased school items, please complete and submit the Teacher/Support Staff Reimbursement Google Form. In addition to supplying your personal information in the form, you will need to attach the receipt(s) (or screenshot of the receipt) for the items you are requesting reimbursement.

Hybrid Model--BOE Decision
Wednesday, November 11, 2020
During the Board of Education of Frederick County's public meeting this afternoon, the Board voted that FCPS will implement the hybrid learning model for students in grades prek-12 beginning on Thursday, January 28, 2021.
All teachers and instructional staff will report back to work in school buildings on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 to facilitate the transition to the hybrid model.
Effective January 1, 2021, employment will resume for FCPS staff who were subject to the fall Reduction in Force, with such staff reporting to work on Monday, January 4, 2021.
Decisions to modify implementation of the hybrid model or small group instruction will be determined by the Superintendent in collaboration with the Frederick County Health Department, based on a review of the metrics provided by the Maryland Department of Health.
Scheduling Appointments with Administration
Tentative Fun Run Schedule
Linked below is our schedule located on the portal. The last tab is called 12/2 Fun Run. You will note that the specials blocks have not changed, except for PreK, which we added so that all of our students have an opportunity to participate in this exciting event. You will also note some changes to the instructional day in an effort to maintain the integrity of our plans and continue to allow for 45 minutes of instruction for both math and reading as well as PATHS and our morning/afternoon meetings on this day. Please review and let Carmen know if you see any issues with the schedule, as indicated no later than 11/16 as we will be informing families soon thereafter.

Special Education Data Requirement--Your Role
It is a requirement through IDEA that members of an IEP team provide data to be discussed to a family 5 days PRIOR to an IEP meeting. Team members will reach out to you and ask for data so that they can prepare a report to send home that remains in compliance with established timelines. It is required that this information be provided in a timely fashion. Any information not sent home to a family prior to a meeting cannot legally be discussed in an IEP meeting without the parents' permission.
Any questions should be posed to the team member requesting the data upon receipt of said request. Questions about the process or anything related to special education, can be sent to Carmen.

Commit'MINT'
We have placed a document on the portal for all to be able to use to give each other a compliment when we notice someone living and implementing our School Improvement Plan´s commitment statements. This virtual bulletin board is located on our SRES staff portal under the school improvement tab.
Virtual Hoppy Store
We are rolling out our Virtual Incentive Program for SRES effective November 12th! We are so excited to provide necessary reinforcement and acknowledgment that will help our students thrive in their learning environment. It is so important to recognize and provide specific feedback and reinforcement to our students on a daily basis. This is how they learn and grow! I know each of you are already doing this in your classrooms in some way or another and we want to be able to streamline that to meet the needs of all of our students. You will find all the necessary information below.
