“ What is not enough for one, just right for two, and too big for three? The answer is…a secret!” That is what Max-Ernest asked a girl in his grade named Cass in The Name of This Book is Secret. Cass is always studying and watching out for disasters. She’s always prepared for them. Max-Ernest wants to be a comedian. He tells a lot of crazy jokes and has no friends. Cass and Max-Ernest are two very unique characters. They become really good friends and do everything with each other. Later that day, a woman named Gloria gave Cass’s grandfathers boxes of an old, dead Magician’s belongings. Nothing was really interesting until they uncovered a mysterious box. It was called the Symphony of Smells. At school, another strange thing happens. A classmate, Benjamin Blake, goes missing! Will they find him? Will Benjamin Blake be all right? Will the three kids make it out alive!? Read the book and find out!
This book is a really funny and suspenseful. I like the really funny narrator throughout the whole story. He was crazy and kept trying to convince you to stop reading the book. I didn’t listen to him! My favorite part was when they found the Magician’s notebook. I liked that part because they kept trying to figure out the clue, but came up with crazy ideas instead. After, they finally figured it out. It was so exciting and I had to finish the part before I stopped reading the book. I always wanted to know what would happen next. I couldn’t put the book down. Also, if you liked this book, you’ll like the second book: If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late and the other three books in the series.
I would recommend this book to anyone in Second Grade or higher or if you’re seven years old or older. Most words are easy to read and understand. This book has a lot of great, suspenseful moments. You are always wanting to know what will happen next! Also, this book is good for anyone who likes action, suspense and mysteries. And funny, crazy narrators!
