Secondary History Social Science Textbook Adoption

PUSD secondary schools are currently going through a pilot process for adopting a new History Social Studies (HSS) curriculum for our middle schools and high school United States History Courses. Please visit our Secondary History Social Science Adoptions page for more information and directions on how to provide feedback.

High School Literature Adoption Committee

In an effort to continue to provide a rigorous and culturally responsive approach to literature, PUSD is creating a committee to review and approve supplemental literature titles for use in secondary English classes. The committee will include representative parents, students and staff. Working as a collaborative body, the group will be tasked with reading and reviewing books and proposals for adoption. Please check out this link with more information and directions on how to apply.

STUDENT SERVICES

Ms. Bowers, Student Services Specialist, has a helpful resource that she can offer parents who may have a teen struggling with vaping and nicotine addiction. Please email her at ebowers@powayusd.com if you would like her to connect you with resources and a self-guided cessation program that can be done in the privacy of your own home.

YEARBOOKS

If you have not yet purchased your 2022 Yearbook there is still time to do so, but there are only a few yearbooks remaining to be purchased. If you have already made your purchase, don't worry we have a record of that purchase and your student is guaranteed a yearbook. If you have not purchased one yet, it's best to do so now. We do not have many left to sell, so it's best to make your purchase now and guarantee a book for your student. Every year we sell out and every year we have disappointed students who did not get a yearbook.

Yearbook purchases can be made online at the following link: http://ybstore.friesens.com/stores/757611

If you have any questions, feel free to email Mr. Trecker at ktrecker@powayusd.com.

COUNSELING NEWS

This has been a year of growth for many of our students. We continue to refer our students who are struggling emotionally to outside therapists, on a daily basis. If you have a concern about your student’s mental health, please contact their counselor. Having a trusted adult on campus for our students has never been more crucial. Our role as a counselor is to support your student with their academic, personal/social, and college and career goals.
