What Kind of Legacy Do You Want To Leave?

The video below is a little over 3 minutes. In the video Rita talks about the importance of building relationships with students. I can tell you first hand from home visits that lots of our students have ZERO positive adult influence outside of our walls. This is sad to me. All students deserve an adult that will champion them and guide them. It is our most important job at school to build meaningful relationships with students. CNP is not a prison, where we force kids to tow the line because we said so. That is not in my nature and won't happen under my leadership. It is our job to be the positive, caring influence in the lives of our students. It is my vision that CNP become like Disneyland, where students never want to leave, and can't wait to come back. The first step forward is with relationships! I hope you take the time to watch this video.

Climate Audit

The school board has requested that corporation participates in a climate audit. Dr. James Halik (Compass-Keynote Consulting) will be in the district on May 1 and May 2 to conduct a climate audit. He will be meeting with all certified and classified staff members in small groups. He will also be meeting with students, and parents. I think this is a great opportunity to gauge where we can get better and to see what we are doing well. In a time where we have been focused on how to give and receive feedback with ourselves and our students I am looking forward to it. CNP's time for the interviews will be on May 2nd from 8:00-11:00. I will post a sign-up with time slots on the lunch table on Monday, please use your specials time, etc. as you sign up. We will find coverage as needed. Please view this as a way to help make CNP better as we all have room to grow. Any questions please stop me and ask.

Here is some more info on the trainings. I'll give you more as I get it. The K-5 specific training is posted first. If that absolutely won't work there may be some slots open for the Jr/Sr high training dates, but it will have a Jr/Sr high focus.

PBL 101 is the best way to get started with Gold Standard PBL.

As our foundational course in Project Based Learning, PBL 101 is based on tried-and-true strategies for developing learning experiences for educators that lead to sustained changes in practice.

Using our model of Gold Standard Project Based Learning, the workshop itself models the project design process. It provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to design, assess, and manage a rigorous, standards-based project.

We have purchased this program from NWEA. My hope is that we can administer this yet this year to see how it compares. I am in the process of finding funds to order the headphones and get them here in time to do this one time this spring. Here is a link if you'd like to know more about it. . Hopefully we will find that this is accurate enough to be useful and save us time to be able to continue with instruction instead of taking over a week to test.
