Angels Spoke to Mary and Joseph

Childrens Ministry

Dear Parents

This week, we began our Christmas unit in The Gospel Projectfor Kids and learned how angels announced the birth of Jesus to Mary and Joseph. God chose Mary and Joseph to be the earthly parents of Jesus by grace, not because of anything they did to deserve it. Jesus’ birth fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies of God providing a Savior for His people. God the Son has always existed, but He took on humanity so that He could live a life full of obedience to the Father, die on the cross to pay the penalty for people’s sin, and rise again to prove that He has power over the grave. Help your kids keep Jesus’ purpose in coming to earth central as they celebrate the Christmas season.

Unit Key Passage

Galatians 4:4-5

"But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons."

Unit 5 Session 1

Bible Passage: Luke 1:26-56; Matthew 1:18-24

Main Point: God chose a family for Jesus

Big Picture Question: Why was Jesus born? Jesus was born to rescue us.

Christ Connection: Many of God's prophets talked about Jesus before He was born. Everything they said about Jesus came true. Before God created the world, He planned to send Jesus. Jesus came to do God's plan, to rescue people from sin.

Aloha Parents!

This week we started our Christmas series! We are so excited to teach your children why we as christians celebrate Christmas and rejoice and celebrate with them that our Savior was born. This season we have also been talking about being missional and sharing the good news, as we craft things to give to the elderly. It is awesome to see their willingness to give something they worked so hard on to someone they don't know so that that person may know the love of Christ. We look forward to seeing you all next week, as we celebrate Jesus's birthday as a family and the children lead us in worship! They are precious, don't miss it! God bless!

Younger Elementary

(Ages 4-6)

Hi parents! Merry Christmas!

This Sunday we learned about a super awesome announcement from the angel Gabriel to Mary and Joseph. We learned that they were chosen to be the earthly parents of Jesus. We discussed that Jesus is totally unique because is fully God since God is his father, and Jesus is also fully man, because he was born from an earthly mom. And we learned that he is the great rescuer who came to save us from our sin!! We also were busy with song practice as their performance is just days away- so exciting!! And we also made Christmas cards for the people that we will sing to at Ann Pearl nursing home coming up next week. What a busy but joyful time we had!

Older Elementary

(Ages 7-11)

Aloha families,

This week we learned about Mary and Joseph and how they learned that they were the ones that God chose to be the parents of His Son, Jesus Christ! We went in depth of how what God told was in store for Mary and what He wanted Joseph to do was going to bring about persecution, suffering, and hard times. But, they saw that the favor from the Lord and did not sway in following God. You can see how joyous Mary's heart is in her Magnificat and how willing Joseph's heart is in trusting God and continuing to be a good servant of the Lord in how he treats and loves his fiancé. So please continue to encourage your kids to strive with God even when things may get tough. And always please lead their repentant hearts towards Christ. We are always praying for you and your kids with love and grace from the Lord.
