The Ideal Lawyer
By Paige Norman
Voice: Rosa Parks
Voice: Margaret Sanger
Due to the death of her mother from having too many children from her father, Margaret Sanger felt obligated to make birth control legal and available to women universally. She devoted her entire life actively challenging federal and state comstock laws to make birth control possible. Margaret felt women should have a choice on what they do with their body and that should include the ability to stop unwanted pregnancies. She had to break the law in order to change it. On few occasions she was arrested, one time for opening the first birth control clinic in the country. This didn't stop her, she then founded the American birth control league, the start of the planned parenthood foundation, and she continued to campaign the pill throughout the nation for several years after. Without her determination, fearlessness, and persuasion, the Supreme Court case Griswold vs Connecticut wouldn't have been ruled by the court that the private use of contraceptives was a constitutional right. For decades she was criticized by society and considered a controversial figure, but she never once shut her mouth until she won the battle herself. Margaret Sanger was the voice for many women that were not able to speak for themselves.
