Reptile Review
December 2022
Principal Update
Dear Reptile Families,
It is hard to believe that we are almost half way through the school year! This year at NRES has been a great one, with lots of accomplishments and successes to celebrate!
On December 16th, we will be having our mid-year Reading Counts Celebration. This celebration recognizes the students who followed through with their reading goals through their independent reading. This year we will be having our annual Penguin Place Shoppes sponsored by the PTO. Due to limited supplies, all students will have a one time shopping experience. Please see the schedule below.
We appreciate you all! During Winter Break please take time to enjoy your family, remember to read, and we will see you ready to learn in 2023! Just a reminder that our school start and end time will change when we return in January. Please see below for some updates to our start time.
Thank you,
Colleen Wilkinson
Principal

Inchy's Bookworm Vending Machine
Instilling the love of reading is a daily initiative at New River Elementary. We’re continuing to work towards our goal of purchasing a book vending machine! Please consider making a donation to help us purchase Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine and a variety of books to fill it! Students will have the opportunity to earn tokens to purchase a book when having strong academics, good attendance, and excellent behavior!

Field Day shirts will be on sale when we get back from the holiday break. The proceeds from the shirts support our reptile run program. Most of our reptiles have already finished 10 miles!! We expect to have the largest number ever earn 30, 40, or 50 mile shirts by May. Way to go, Reptiles! Field Day is March 10. Mark your calendar because we will need tons of parent volunteers!! As part of our NRES Field day, we will also be taking part in the American Heart Association’s “Kids Heart Challenge”. We were one of only a handful of schools that participated in Pasco County last year and we are proud to help such a worthy cause again this year. This was a message from the AHA, “Please know that everyone at the American Heart Association is aware of the incredible impact that your school is making, and we are beyond grateful to have a partner like you in the fight against heart disease and stroke!”
Enjoy your holidays and remember to encourage your child to be active over the break!
