STAAR Testing in May at Collins
Over the next few weeks our school will be conducting statewide assessment tests. The Texas Education Agency requires that these assessments be offered in person only. In order to limit the number of students on campus during testing, only students participating in testing will attend school on campus during these days. All other students will learn remotely. This method of learning is permitted under an approved TEA waiver.
Please use the schedule below to determine which days your child should attend school on campus. For remote days, your child’s teacher will provide instructions for remote learning.
May 11th On campus: Students taking the STAAR test in grades 3rd, 4th and 5th
May 11th Remote learning: Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd
May 12th On campus: Students taking the STAAR test in grades 3rd, 4th and 5th
May 12th Remote learning: Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd
May 13th On campus: Students taking the STAAR test in 5th grade
May 13th Remote learning: Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th
May 14th All students return to normal schedule for on campus and remote learning.
If you have any questions about this schedule, please contact your child’s teacher or the office at 512-386-3900.
Thank you for working with us to ensure our campus safely conducts this year’s in-person statewide assessments.
Help Us Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week!
New Specials Schedule
To help with the transition, the first specials class on Monday will be where students were going to specials last week. Each teacher has their unique schedules posted in Google Classroom for virtual learners. If you have any questions, you can contact your child's teacher or our specials team leader, emily.woods@dvisd.net
Save the Date
More information will be coming and parents will receive an invite with their child's class time and link for the graduation.
Our 5th grade End of Year Ceremony will be the afternoon of May 24th and our Kinder Graduation will be on May 25th.
Community and Collins Staff In Action !
Brookfield Residential donated four 6 ft. long outdoor picnic tables to our campus for students and classes to use! These tables can be used for different student activities, events, table games, or just to take a break, or each lunch!
A Big Thanks to all Collins Staff, Easton Park Community and Brookfield Residential who helped us to assemble the tables. Excellent Work!
Parent Article: What are the 3Ts?
The 3Ts are your tools to make the most out of every interaction with your child. When you use all 3Ts at once, you build the strongest, most efficient brain possible.
Every parent has a different starting point for how much they talk, but there’s no limit to how many connections you can build in your child’s brain using the 3Ts. Tune In means be in the moment. Pay attention to what your child is focused on and talk about it. What your child is focused on is always changing, so you have to stay Tuned In and change your words to match. Once you Tune In, Talk More with your child. Remember, every word you say fills her bank and builds her brain.
When you Tune In and Talk More with your child, you automatically Take Turns. No matter your child’s age, you can Take Turns and have a conversation. You don’t have to buy anything. You don’t have to carve out special time. Just use the 3Ts to talk and interact with your child throughout the day.
