Current Fifth Graders Math Testing Out/Middle School

For students currently in Math 5, Math 6, and Math 7, the testing out registration window is currently opened. Registrations will be accepted until Apr 12, 2023. Details about testing out are found on this Middle School Testing Out website.

Testing will be held during the school day on April 28, 2023. The purpose of testing is for students to demonstrate a deep understanding of the math content in the upcoming course, and to be placed in the next appropriate course in the math sequence.

DreamBox is a way to review and build new skills for testing out. If your student needs assistance in accessing DreamBox, through Clever, please contact your student’s current math teacher for more information.

PLTW

Week of 3/13

The kindergarteners continued their exploration of pushes & pulls by demonstrating ways to use those two movements in the classroom and around the school/playground. They also explored how the speed and strength of a push/pull can move an object. The kids got a chance to knock down a wall with a wrecking ball, but had to be careful not to hurt the things around it.

The first and second graders transitioned from the unplugged Rosie's Runtime activity to ScratchJr on the iPads. The kids were introduced to the different code blocks, along with activities that demonstrated how the blocks would work together in an actual program.

Staff Request Regarding Changes in Student Pick-up Plans

Please be diligent about solidifying pick-up plans for your student prior to the start of the school day. We recognize extenuating circumstances do occur, however, numerous changes to pick-up plans across multiple classrooms creates disruption at an already busy time of day. In addition, each time a message is communicated to a classroom it disrupts the flow of learning and instruction. Thank you in advance for helping us to address this need.

2023-2024 Pre-Enrollment is Open

Pre-enrollments in the Ann Arbor Public Schools are now open. Additionally, we are currently accepting In-District Transfers for young 5s, 9th and 10th Grade at Pioneer and Skyline, and 9th, 10th and IB 11th graders at Huron. More information is available here.

AAPS In District Transfer Timeline
