Mindfulness Minute

Think of someone in the building who showed you kindness this year. Write them a note of gratitude and deliver it to them.

Final Exam Preparation

Use this task list organizer to ensure you have all the steps you need to prepare for exams.

Previous Documents Shared:

Follow this link to 10 Steps to Prepare for Final exams. This document shares a few ideas for getting organized.

Just in case you are interested, here is the chart that was shared a few weeks ago. You can start by filling in the "What" so you can then start to plan for the "How." You should include ALL of the assessments, projects, etc as a means to organize yourself. I want to thank my former colleagues for access to these helpful materials.

Final Exam Attendance and Dismissal

We recognize that the exam schedule has periods of time when students may not have a scheduled exam and may want to be dismissed. However, we are not an open campus and our dismissal policy will remain the same, any dismissal requires a written note. Because we are anticipating an increase in student dismissals during this time, we would prefer a hand-written note from a parent/guardian that can be presented to the appropriate school office at dismissal time. We encourage students to remain at school and get the necessary help they need to end the year well. Supervised study spaces will be available when students are not actively engaged in the exam period.

Final Exam Conflict Exams

The final exam schedule is now posted. With the final exam published, it has come to my attention that there may be family obligations in conflict with the published exam schedule. Any request to move an exam or take an exam late, needs to come through my office using this google form. No Semester exam will be administered prior to June 17, 2022, the official start of the exam period. However, I am willing to work with you if there is a conflict that can be resolved within the final exam schedule (June 17 - June 23). If we are unable to find a time during the exam period we can work to find a mutually agreeable time to complete the exam during the summer. The first two summer make-up dates will be Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28 at 9:00 AM. Please know, any student who does not complete their exam before June 23, 2022 will likely have an incomplete until school resumes in August.

Students who have filled out the form have received an email from me (or will in the next few days) indicating possible solutions and next steps to remedy the conflicts. Teachers will receive an update with students who have completed the Conflict-exam process and students need to work with teachers to accommodate the conflict.

Grade Portal

The Powerschool portal will be closing on June 15th at 3:00 PM as teachers prepare to post final grades for the year. Students should check the portal before Wednesday to make sure all of their work is completed. Within the final exam schedule there are WIN (what I need) blocks and make-up periods that are there for students to use as an opportunity to finish well.

Locker Cleanout

The end-of-the-year locker clean out is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15th. Students will have an opportunity to clean out their lockers and we ask students to bring an additional school-bag or duffel bag to complete this process.

Civics Projects Presentations

On Tuesday, June 7th, the entire Sophomore class participated in presenting their Civics projects. Over the course of a month, students learned how to identify the root cause of a problem of their choosing. The process included individual topics, small group topics, and then finally a class wide topic that the class chose to continue to research and identify a policy change. Through civic engagement and collaboration, the entire class learned how to create a plan of action. Students then presented the action plan to the other sophomore history classes on Tuesday. The final steps of the project will be to receive feedback from their fellow classmates, write a reflection about the process, and create a class portfolio of their work.
