Rosa Parks Elementary Rocket News
November 18, 2019
Hello Rocket Families!
We have had a busy couple of weeks here at Rosa Parks Elementary. We want to thank everyone who was able to come out and celebrate our Veterans with us. It was truly an honor watching our students perform on behalf of the men and women who serve our country.
In addition, we had an enjoyable night of fun reading around the camp fire. Families who came out were able to learn new strategies they can use to support their child's reading at home. In addition, every student went home with a book and a poster to support reading.
Finally, we want to say thank you to every family here at Rosa Parks Elementary. It truly is an honor for us to get to work with your children each and every day. As we go into this Thanksgiving break please know we are thinking about all our students and their families and wish each and every one of you a time of blessings and peace with your families and loved ones. Thank you for sharing your children with us!
~Ms. Kent and Mrs. Agina
Monthly Calendars
Morning Drop-Off Updates
We are encouraging our families to utilize the car rider line and drop your children off allowing our staff and safety patrol to walk your children into the building. If you wish to walk your children into the school, we are asking that you park on the street, utilize the sidewalk, and cross at the crosswalk. In addition, if you choose to park in the parking lot, you must follow all traffic signs including the one-way directions. This will ensure our car rider line flows in a timely manner and ensures the safety of our families. Please do not walk through the parking lot as cars are driving through. For the safety of everyone when walking your students you must use the sidewalks and follow the directions of staff on duty.
We appreciate our families for understanding these necessary changes. Please know if we ask you to follow these procedures it is from our care and concern for you and the children we serve. We would also remind everyone the building opens at 7:30 a.m. We have noticed between 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. the line seems to be less crowded. Please consider bringing your child during this time as this will ensure they are in the building and ready to begin their day prior to the tardy bell ringing.
Attendance Challenge
In addition, we will hand out "Rocket Bucks" to students who have perfect attendance at each "Progress Report" and "Report Card" dates. We want to honor students who are at school every day.
Please review the Attendance Newsletter with the attendance guidelines. Please contact our ADA Clerk, Mrs. Corona if you have questions related to attendance.
We also encourage families to download the Box Top app.
Lunch Applications
REMINDER: All families must reapply every year for assistance with lunch. If you are in need of support with lunch, please be sure to complete the free and reduced lunch application. We want to help ensure every student is able to receive breakfast and lunch every day.
