Weekly Recap
Hopefully this message finds you in good spirits. Can you believe that March is only a few days away? We're almost at the midpoint of the 2nd Semester. This past week our scholars had lunch with Cedar Hill Police, dressed up for Spring pictures, ate breakfast with Cedar Hill Firefighters, and celebrated with Houses. Let's not forget our Longhorns playing in their final game of the season and our Lady Longhorns advancing to the playoffs. Kudos to both teams on improving throughout the season with every practice and game. Thanks also to the fathers who joined Coach Courtney to help our scholar-athletes and the parents who contributed snacks and support. It was an excellent week of engagement and victories, and we look forward to keeping that going this week.
Here are some important points to keep in mind:
- Monday, February 25-Friday, March 1: Read Across America Week. See the flyer included on below for the optional attire for each day. All are encouraged to wear bright color/African print attire on Wednesday, February 27.
- Tuesday, February 26 is our Black History Program/PTA meeting. The event begins at 6:00 p.m., and all are invited to come out for an entertaining and informative evening. Please RSVP by Monday, February 25th if you'd like dinner. Also, scholars participating in the concert and/or the Living Museum may dress up during the day and that evening.
- Wednesday, February 27: Lake Ridge vs. Collegiate Prep. Our Lady Longhorns will compete in the playoffs at 4:30 p.m. The game will be in Gym #1 at Bessie Coleman Middle School.
Dallas County Health and Human Services asked us to remind parents about flu season. If your child has flu-like symptoms, please keep them at home until they are fever free for at least 24 hours. Also, remind them to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer frequently, and cover their cough. The influenza vaccine is available at many doctors' offices and the health department. If your child is not experiencing these symptoms and is well, please send them to school.
When wondering about key dates, be sure to review The Lake Ridge Bridge and the calendar located on the campus's website. As events are scheduled, dates are updated so that you can have a place to reference.
