From the Principal...
March 4th, 2022
Dear Westbrook Families,
We are so lucky to have our wonderful social worker, Mrs. Ryno, at Westbrook School. We are celebrating social worker appreciation next Tuesday, March 8th. Please join me in thanking Mrs. Ryno for all she does to support Westbrook students. This week, Mrs. Ryno shared this resource with parents as a guide to speaking with children about recent world events.
Thank you to the PTO for providing another delicious special lunch this week. Students are excited to be back at lunch tables in the gym. The next Westbrook PTO meeting is on Wednesday, March 16th, at 7 pm at Westbrook. We will be talking about upcoming field trips for our kindergarten and first grade students. More information is coming soon!
On Friday, March 11th, we will have half-day attendance for students throughout the District. Only first-grade students will attend from 9:20 AM to 12:20 PM at Westbrook. Please note the different dismissal times for our bussers and walkers. First-grade students will not need to bring lunch on half days. Our Kids’ Corner program will only be available to first-grade students from 7:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. Please make sure to inform your private daycare providers of this variance in the schedule. Circle of Friends and Kindergarten students will NOT attend school on Friday, March 11th.
For your Children,
Danielle Crandall

The LRC Buzz from Mrs. Capra
The kindergarten and 1st grade students have been reading the 2022 Monarch Nominees in preparation for their vote next week. Votes will be submitted and we will eagerly await the announcement of the winner in Illinois.
Since these books are for K-3rd grade, we have not read all of the titles together. We do own all of the nominees at Westbrook and The Mount Prospect Public Library has many copies as well.

First Student - Important Information about Stop Changes
A friendly reminder that the stop location issued to you by First Student is the only location your child will be dropped off.
- Bus drivers are not independently authorized to make route/stop changes. This practice is unsafe and leads to confusion when there is a substitute driver who is not aware of a "sweetheart" arrangement.
If you would like to request a stop change. Please visit D57.org or click here
We also recommend making a note of First Student's phone number: (847) 635-9877. Remember - your first call should be to First Student.

Note from the Nurse: COVID-19 Vaccination Card Information
Dear Parents,
District 57 offers families the opportunity to voluntarily provide their child’s COVID-19 vaccination status. We are asking parents to send a copy of their child's Covid vaccination card to the health office after their child receives their second dose. This is greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Julie Tworek, RN
