Tardy Policy
The consequences for the first four tardies to your class are handled at the classroom level. When a student has been tardy the fifth time that quarter, the staff member will write an office referral in Skyward.
1st Tardy: Classroom Level - Teacher Conference
2nd Tardy: Classroom Level - Teacher Conference
3rd Tardy: Classroom Level - Parent Contact
4th Tardy: Classroom Level - Parent Contact and Teacher-Directed Consequence
*For each tardy 5th and beyond the teacher will write the referral in Skyward. Consequences will be assigned through the office.
5th Tardy: Office Level - 1 lunch detention
6th Tardy: Office Level - 3 lunch detentions
7th Tardy: Office Level - 30 minute after school detention
8th Tardy: Office Level - 60 minute after school detention
9th Tardy: Office Level - Saturday School
10th Tardy and beyond : Parent / student conference to establish next steps
Last Full Week of Selling for the School-Wide Fundraiser
Our fundraiser sales can be ordered from an online catalog or on a hard copy order form. Purchases will be shipped directly to Hocker Grove to avoid shipping costs. The fundraiser will run from September 26-October 10. Funds from the proceeds of our fundraiser will help fund Hocker Grove's student incentive program (PBIS) and celebration trips.
If you haven't already, you can register for the fundraiser through the website at www.clubschoicefundraising.com. Our school code is HOCK22. Students can qualify for prizes simply by sending 10 messages to friends and family through the website. Additional prizes for sales and competitions can be found in the parent letter below (also included as a blue page on the packet that was sent home).

Internet Hot Spots Available for Checkout
Hocker Grove continues to have Hotspots available for check out to students/families in need of internet support. Families with a demonstrated need may check out a hotspot for home access. The first step is to complete the application: http://bit.ly/smsdhotspot
Need is established by an inability to secure internet access in the home and one of the following:
National School Lunch Program qualification (District letter confirming qualification should be shown to establish this need.)
Academic need - the student is at risk of failing or at least 1 academic year behind peers for their age.
Children with Limited English Proficiency
Immigrant children/youth or Migrant Educational Program participant
McKinney Vento or Youth in Foster Care
Parent experienced recent job loss/unemployment/financial hardship
Checkout will be for a semester. If a device is not actively used, the district will request it be returned and reallocated to another student in need.
Does Hocker Grove Have a PTA?
· Fund Teacher Grants Applications for materials not provided by the SMSD
· Provide support for school field trips
· Assist with events for student and family activities
· Host Staff Appreciation Events for our AMAZING faculty and staff
