What is the Stamp act

it was a new tax imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used like ships paper, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, even playing cards.

Background information

This was caused by the French and India war which lined the economy of the colonists and made the British impose high taxes

Who/What areas were affected by the stamp act?

Areas affected were the 13 colonies in America, and the colonists

What was the colonists response to the stamp act?

Both patriots and loyalists reacted with violence by boycotting the British goods until Ben Franklin implemented the Declaratory Acts and repealed the stamp act in March 1766.

How did the stamp act worsen the relationship between Great Britain and the colonists?

The relationship caused a lot of violence, such as colonists dressing up as stamp agents as a way of protest, and different forms of verbal and physical abuse.
