Specials Spotlight

Kindergartners created Jeff Koon’s inspired balloon dog. Students learned about form and 3 dimensional objects. We discussed highlights and shadows on objects. Students learned when an object is facing the sun a highlight will appear. Objects facing away from the sun will create a shadow.

Reminders from Nurse Fennelly

Thank you to all of the families who have partnered with us to help keep the students and staff at Prairie Point healthy. This year, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, it is especially important that families call the school before sending students who have symptoms of illness. We are working hard to handle these situations on a case by case basis so that we can keep illness outside of our school.

If your child wakes up not feeling well, please do not send them on the bus or drop them at school until you speak with our school nurse, Terri Fennelly. You can reach the front office by calling 359-4380. Nurse Terri's direct line is 359-4384.

Remember, all members of our Park Hill family will follow these guidelines to screen for symptoms of COVID-19, and must stay home if ill. A list of symptoms to screen for can be found below.

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Rash
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle pain
  • Lack of appetite
  • Loss of taste or smell

Spring Picture Day - Thursday, February 18

Our Spring Picture Day will be held on Thursday, February 18th. This year, ALL students will be having individual pictures taken. Students may choose to order their individual pictures, as usual. Instead of class group pictures, Lifetouch will create a composite of the individual pictures.

Online Learners Only - Please sign up for your appointment time here.

A Correction in our AVID Binders

It has been brought to our attention that the 3rd Quarter AVID Binders have the early release days listed on them in green. These are misprints. There are no early release dates this year. We have let District Office know, please disregard these. Sorry for the confusion and thank you!

Changes to our Spring Semester Calendar

The Board approved changes to our current academic calendar. These changes include . . .

· No school for students or teachers on President's Day, February 15.

· No school for students on Friday, March 26. This will be a workday for teachers.

· Depending on inclement weather days, the last day of school will be Friday, May 28. It will be a half-day for students and a full day for teachers.

Recess Reminders

The cold weather is upon us! Just a friendly reminder that students are expected to go out for recess each day. Appropriate clothing and shoes should be worn for outside activities. On days when the temperature and/or wind chill is above 20 degrees Fahrenheit and the playground is cleared of snow and ice, there will be outdoor recess.

Please put your child's name on their winter clothing (coats, gloves, hats, etc..). This will help us return your child's lost clothing to them quickly! Due to COVID-19, we will not let our Lost and Found closet fill up as much as we have in the past which means we will make more frequent donations to the Park Hill Clothing Center.

Birthday Treat Reminders

Due to our safety guidelines, we will not be able to have food or other items brought into the school building for birthdays or other celebrations. If you are still interested in birthday treats for your students, our Food Service has options available for purchase. Click the file below for ordering information.

Repeat: Free and Reduced-Price Meal Benefits

If your family might qualify for free or reduced-price meals, please complete the 2020-2021 meal benefit application in your SchoolCafe account, if you have not already done so.

Even though meals are free this year, this form also helps us get needed funding for district services for students. And if you are signed up this year, you won't have a gap in services at the beginning of the next school year.

If you qualify for free or reduced-price meals, you are eligible for additional discounts on things like health care, college application fees, athletics, AP class fees, and fees for the SAT and ACT tests. For more information, click here.

Repeat: Do You Know A Park Hill Star?

The Park Hill Star recognition program was started in 2015 to celebrate support staff and teachers whose work is especially noteworthy.

The following is an overview of the Park Hill Star Program:

Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students.
That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee.
