Longleaf School of the Arts
Celebrating 10 Years of Excellence
LSA Staff Spotlight
Congratulations Mrs. Franklin!
Congratulations to our very own Artist, Mrs. Grace Franklin, on being commissioned to display her artwork at Taste restaurant in downtown Raleigh! Mrs. Franklin, we are so proud of you! Thank you for continuing to be an inspiration for our LSA students!
Great Job 2022-2023 LSA Mentors, Mentees, and Mr. Houck!
Our mission statement is "Longleaf School of the Arts will develop students into confident, responsible, and successful contributors in college, career, and community through mentorship and a challenging curriculum that integrates academics and the fine arts." Our students have opportunities throughout the schoool year to be mentored by their teachers and LSA staff. As Mr. Houck, Math Teacher and Mentor Advisor, states, "Mentoring also occurs directly through the mentor program as new Freshmen and Sophomores are grouped with a student mentor to guide them through their first year at Longleaf and ultimately to help them soak in the unique culture that is Longleaf." Friday, March 17th, was the last Mentor/Mentee group meeting. We would like to say "thank you" to all of the student mentors as well as the student mentees who participated this school year. This program continues to be a special part of Longleaf School of the Arts because Mr. Houck provides the plan and the structure while LSA teachers provide the support and meeting spaces. Thank you all for your leadership!

Due to ACT testing, the date of our Severe Weather Drill ws changed to Thursday, March 23rd. All students and staff will participate in the drill during the final period of the day. Please do not arrive to pick up students from 2:07 PM to 3:15 PM this Thursday.
Advisory Attendance Notification
LSA students and parents will receive a notification this week ONLY if there are excessive absences during the Advisory class period. There will be a link to a Google form to submit information and documentation for the absences. More specific directions and information will be in the letter. You will receive a letter if PowerSchool indicates more than 15 unexcused absences in Advisory. This class counts toward the number of hours we submit as instructional time, so it is important for the students to be in Advisory each day.
