November 24 is a Half Day of School 8:35 – 11:45 a.m.**

**Sack lunches will be provided for students who want to take one home.

There will be no school on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Picture Retake Day is Next Week

If you ordered a printed picture packet, those were sent home with students last week.

Did you miss picture day? Don’t worry, picture retake day is Tuesday, November 23. Picture order forms are available in the office or you can order online at If your student is getting their picture retaken, they will need to bring their original pictures with them on picture retake day.

If you want to keep your students original pictures and want to get their picture taken again next week, you can place another order for retake day by going to and searching for Cascade View Elementary. Click on order for the 11/23/21 picture day.

Please call the office if you have any questions.

Crosswalk Etiquette

Our crosswalk staff have experienced some instances this year where cars are stopping inside of the crosswalk when students are present and waiting to cross the street. It is illegal to stop on a crosswalk. Crosswalks are to be used by pedestrians; not to be blocked by vehicles.

Here are a few reminders:

  • Always yield to pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections.
  • Reduce speed and be prepared to stop in all areas with marked crosswalks.
  • Come to a complete stop if pedestrians are crossing or preparing to cross the road.
  • Never pass another vehicle that is stopped or slowing down at a crosswalk.

November Thunderbird Community Drive

During the month of November, in partnership with our local Snohomish Food Bank, Cascade View will be doing an item drive! As November is a time to give thanks, Thunderbirds will show how to take care of our community, and each other, by bringing in special items that are in greatest need in our community. The Food Bank has shared that they have enough food items, so the items our students will be collecting, by class, will be things like personal hygiene, baby diapers, winter wear (socks, hats, gloves, etc.), and pet food. Item themes will be given to specific grade levels, so more information to come from teachers!

***Through Thursday, November 18, Cascade View students and families have collected and donated 158 pounds of supplies that will greatly help other families in our community.***

Holiday Resources

We created this list of resources with organizations that offer assistance for families during the holiday season, including toys and food. Please read through the list and check their website since many have deadlines to request help.

Extra Clothes?

Cascade View Health Room needs sweatpants or leggings in sizes small or medium. If you have clean, gently worn sweatpants or leggings that your child no longer wears, we would love to put them to good use for our students who may need a change of clothes during the school day. Thank you so much for your generosity!

Face Masks for Students

Just a reminder to please send your student(s) to school with a face mask, and also with extras, every day to school. If their mask becomes soiled or dirty, they will need a clean one available to them. Thank you!

Message from CVE Nurse

We are so excited to have all Thunderbirds back on campus. With more kids on campus, we are starting to see more coughs and sniffles among students. As a reminder, anyone who is not feeling well should stay home. Even one symptom is enough to warrant staying home. It is recommended that anyone with symptoms get tested for Covid. If you have questions regarding illness and school, please review the district guidance, or contact Nurse Chrissy in the health room at 360-563-7006.

Cell Phones and Thunderbirds

A few years ago, our school board revised district polity to allow most students the ability to carry cell phones to and from school. We recognize that for some families, this mode of communication, especially after the final bell, is important to insure students "get where they need to be" or check in with parents when they arrive at their destinations. That being said, schools do restrict use of cell phones during the student day--and that includes us here at Cascade View. To be clear, at school and during school hours, no student should have their cell phones out at any time and certainly should not be calling, texting, or gaming on their devices during school hours. This is a non-negotiable expectation. If students attempt this, they are given one warning to put their devices away. The devices are taken from them for repeat infractions and you will be called to come and pick them up. If your child needs to call or notify you of anything when they are at school, we want them to call from a school phone so that we can offer the appropriate support and guidance. Thank you for partnering with us on this important matter.

After School Transportation Arrangement Changes

Please be sure to contact the school office as early in the day as possible when there is a change in your child's after school transportation arrangements. You may send in a signed note or call the office in the morning to change arrangements. We ask for your help in this matter in order to get all of our kids safely home each day.

In order to ensure a safe and timely dismissal, we will stop answering our office phone at 2:45 p.m. (12:45 p.m. on Friday) and, therefore, will not be able to implement any changes to your student's transportation arrangements after that time.

Thank you for your understanding.
