Looking for motivated individual to work as our Youth Advocate!
Job Description:
Family Network on Disabilities (FND), through our Parent of the Panhandle Infomation Network (POPIN) , is now hiring an individual between of the ages of 18 and 30 as our Youth Advocate. The Youth Advocate position will provide information, support, and assistance to youth and young adults with disabilities in transition, primarily from high school to higher education, employment, and living independently in the community. By sharing their personal experience in advocating at their own Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings, they will serve as an example and inspiration to other youth and young adults with disabilities.
The Youth Advocate must also sustain knowledge of current developments related to families, education, and disability related issues. Provide informational booths at various events within the region. Maintain all documentation in the FND database daily.
Requirements Include:
-Reliable Internet access at home and by mobile device.
-Good communication skills and must be able to facilitate group conversations. Please note: Youth Advocates are provided training on all presentation material.
-Strong computer skills, knowledge of Google Docs, and the ability to manage time to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
-Their own transportation and be able to travel as required to fulfill assigned duties.
-Location: The Youth Advocate must be located in Jacksonville and be able to travel independently between countries covered in our region for POPIN.
Job Type: Full Time 40 Hours
