Who was Pericles
Pericles was a member of the Alcmaeonidae family. Pericles was on of the prosecutors in Cimon. He was the popular leader in Athens for his military commanding. He was one of Athens greatest leaders. He was so important to the history of Athens that the time of his rule was called the Age of Pericles. His name in Greek means 'Surrounded by Glory.'

Pericles was born in 495 B.C.. Pericles came to power in 460 B.C.. He ruled for 31 years until he died. He became a powerful statesman during the Peloponnesian War
What did Pericles do
Pericles was know to be a great motivational speaker, one time in a wrestling match a lost but he was such a good speaker that he convinced the judges that he won even tho the saw him lose. He built the Acropolis an Parthenon and led Athens' recapture of Delphi, the siege on Samos and the invasion of Megara. He had three goals the first was to strengthen democracy, two was he wanted to expand the empire, and three was to beautify Athens.
