AIG Services - What will it look like this year?

I am looking forward to challenging your child this year! I will be working with 4th and 5th grade students in both math and ELA beginning this week. I will be pulling out students that are identified in math and/or ELA for 45 minutes per subject area per week. My website is a great source to refer to in order to keep up to date with what we are doing for the different subjects and grade levels. You can also find important dates and announcements posted throughout the school year. Please check it out at

The First Few Weeks!

I use these first weeks to focus on getting to know your children and understand what type of thinkers and workers they are. To start our work together, students will be reviewing the importance of having a growth mindset using Peter H. Reynolds' book The Dot. To learn more about Dot Day and the significance of this book, click here. Make sure to ask your child about his or her work with this powerful story.

You will find this year that I will really be working with them to understand their mindset. In order to grow and flourish it is so important to have a growth mindset. We will spend a few weeks discussing what a growth mindset is, how we can change our words to reflect a growth mindset, and how mindset impacts our learning. Students will participate in group challenges and activities that require them to analyze their mindsets and reflect on ways they can improve their outlooks when faced with challenging tasks in math and reading.
