Garnet Valley CTC Quick Tip #13 2017-2018
Did you know? “A mental health condition isn't your fault or your family's fault—it develops for complicated reasons that researchers are only starting to understand. But we understand a lot about how you can live well with a mental health condition—and you have the power to take the steps necessary to improve your mental health”(National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI).
Call to action… “Mental health services and supports are available and the earlier you access them the better. Many teens and young adults live full lives with a mental health condition. More and more teens and young adults are speaking out about their experiences and connecting with others. Check out Ok2Talk to see what others are saying. You are not alone—there are others out there going through the same things you are” (NAMI). To read more from NAMI paste the link below into your browser.

Attendance Line Update - Important Information
Beginning this past Monday, November 27, you will now receive an automated call alerting you if your child has been marked absent at school. This call will remind you to provide a signed and dated note within three days of your child’s return to school stating the reason for the absence. Students who have been absent more than ten times in a school year require a doctor’s note for the absence to be excused. You will be asked to contact the main office if you believe to have received the automated call in error.
Attendance calls will go to the first number listed on the first parent/guardian contact in Alma. To update the phone number that will be called when a student is absent, please first update your phone numbers in Alma. Please call the school office to change the order of the contacts if needed.
Thank you for your support!
Drop-off, Pickup and Dismissal Reminders
Students arriving after 8:50 AM must be accompanied by an adult and walked into the main office. All changes in dismissal must be accompanied by a note from a parent or guardian. If your student attends the YMCA, you must also notify the YMCA of any changes.
Please do not use the Bus Loop during the following times:
8:20 - 8:50 AM
11:15 - 11:40 AM
12:15 - 12:40 PM
2:45 - 3:20 PM
Changes in a student's dismissal (examples: daycare closing, early dismissal, alternate stop, etc.) must be reported to the office in writing 24 hours in advance and is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
Thank you for helping us ensure our students' safety.
