MLK Day is coming up!

On January 18th, the nation celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and his legacy. In honor of MLK, this Double Shot is geared towards providing resources to teachers to help celebrate this great man.

If you are looking for resources to help you celebrate MLK day in your class, check out these from the National Education Association (NEA):

Grades K - 5

Grades 6 - 8

Grades 9 - 12

Studying primary sources is a great teaching technique that I find preferable to studying excerpts in textbooks. Listening to the voice of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as he delivers some of his most famous speeches and sermons, one can feel the timbre and force of this great orator in a way that reading the texts does not provide.

In celebration of MLK, consider sharing some of his most famous speeches and sermons with your students:

See you next Tuesday!
