KEEPING FAMILIES CONNECTED

Congratulations Ms. Cozza!
Our very own K/1 teacher, Annie Cozza, has been named Sonoma County Teacher of the Month for November/December 2020. The monthly award honors one of Sonoma County's most outstanding teachers. The award is sponsored by Sonoma County Office of Education, K-Hits 104.9, and Community First Credit Union.
Ms. Cozza received a number of enthusiastic nominations from the parents of her young students. They described her as a distance learning superstar who makes learning engaging and personal for her young students, even while having two young children of her own at home. "Ms. Cozza is the most patient, kindest and sweetest teacher. She has made transitioning to online learning during this time easy. Being transparent has made this hard time bearable and my child as well as myself feel fully supported. I can't imagine a better teacher," read one nomination. Another parent wrote, "Ms. Cozza is a superhero. She has managed to help my wild 5-year-old LOVE distance learning. She’s funny, kind, and cares so much about every little one in the class (even the random younger siblings in background). We’re so grateful to have her during this time to keep the kids happy and learning."
SCOE and KHITS honored Ms. Cozza over a virtual staff meeting held on Wednesday, December.16, where her surprise recognition was met by cheers from her colleagues. Representatives from the school district joined in the celebration, including Petaluma City School HR Director Matt Harris, Educational Services Director Jason Sutter, and Board Member Sheldon Gen. Ms. Cozza will also be given $500 worth of gift cards for teacher resources and supplies.
Ms. Cozza expressed gratitude to her school and colleagues. "This is for you too. We're like a big family," she told her fellow teachers. She added that since distance learning began, she has seen her colleagues rise to the occasion to serve students remotely with dedication and heart.
Congratulations Ms. Cozza!!!

Due to COVID-19, we are unable to make copies for you at this time and we apologize for this inconvenience.
Typically, this is "tour season" at Mary Collins School. However, due to the current pandemic, we will not be holding our usual school tours. Instead, we will be hosting virtual events for families to learn about our school. During these meetings, you'll hear from our principal, teachers, parents, and possibly even students. Nothing replaces an in-person tour where you can see learning in action, but we are confident you will get to know our school community a little better after attending a virtual info session! Zoom links can be found in our school calendar. The school calendar is accessible on the homepage of the MCCV website.
