March Senior Newsletter
Dear Seniors,
With graduation just a couple month away there will be much communication surrounding graduation . It is important to read emails and listen to announcements as communication surrounding scholarship opportunities, graduation information, and much more come in the form of email.
Below is a current list of available scholarships. Please pay close attention to deadlines as many are fast approaching. Please provide time for your teachers and counselors to write letter of recommendations as well as time to process paperwork and transcripts. Do not wait until the deadline date to turn in your scholarship application.
If you are planning on joining the military please provide your counselor with enlistment paperwork so we can include you in an awards ceremony as well as provide you military cords for graduation. Acceptance letters and award packages are starting to arrive. Please provide your counselor with university scholarship awards so you are recognized in our graduation program.

Local Scholarships
Rocky Lee Ryan Breedlove Memorial Scholarship
- Rocky was a cherished member of the Edgewood community who defied the odds with what he achieved in life. His life was sadly cut short by esophageal cancer in 2018
- Rocky requested a memorial scholarship for a student who has lost a parent
- Demonstrate financial need
- Exhibit drive and desire to succeed and have educational and career goals
- Two letters of recommendation
- Face-to Face interview with scholarship committee
- Deadline March 22nd
- Application available in the counseling department
Edgewood Teachers Association Scholarship
- ETA sponsors scholarships that are awarded annually to graduating students of Edgewood High School
- Scholarship awarded on the following criteria: Academics, Letters of Recommendation, Extracurricular, Leadership, Interview
- Deadline is April 12th, 2019
- Application is available in the counseling department
Jacksonburg United Methodist Women's Scholarship
- Open to all faiths
- Any graduating senior from Edgewood
- 500$ Scholarship
- Demonstrate leadership, community service, extra curricular involvement
- Essay
- 2 letter of recommendation
- Application available in counseling department
- Return completed application to counseling department in a two pocket folder by April, 12th, 2019
7 Mile Alumni Association Scholarship
- Open to all faiths
- Any graduating senior from Edgewood
- 500$ Scholarship
- Demonstrate leadership, community service, extra curricular involvement
- Essay
- 2 letter of recommendation
- Application available in counseling department
- Return completed application to counseling department in a two pocket folder by April 12th, 2019
Trenton Lions Club Memorial Scholarship
- Awarded to the senior student in the Edgewood School District who is determined to be the most "well-rounded"
- One time payment of $1,500
- Transcript, Essay, Interview
- Sign up for an interview upon turning in application to the counseling department
- Deadline April 8th. Interviews will be April 15th and 16th at EHS
- Application available in the counseling department
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society Scholarship Application
- $1000 scholarship available for senior girls majoring in education
- Deadline is March 29th, 2019
- Application available in the counseling department
Alpha Delta Kappa/Local Middletown Phi Chapter
- $900 scholarship available for senior girls majoring in education
- Deadline is March 22nd, 2019
- Application available in the counseling department
Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship:
- Working towards an RN degree

Martha Seward Rahfuse Memorial Scholarship:
Student ranked in the upper 25% of class
One year scholarship in the amount of $1,000
Deadline is April 1st, 2019

Virginia Budge Award for Creative & Performing Arts:
- For Butler County Creative and Performing Arts students.

Choir Booster Scholarship:
- Letter of recommendation
- High school transcript

Caring.com:
- The student-caregiver scholarship provides financial assistance to students who are caring for an adult relative while enrolled in college.
- Applicants must be full-time college students at an accredited two or four year college

Altrusa International of Hamilton:
- Must be in the upper 25% of the graduating class
- Must be seeking a baccalaureate degree or certificate
- Good Character
- Demonstrated Leadership
- Deadline March 29th, 2019
- Application available in the counseling department
William D. Squires Education Foundation Inc:
- Applicants must be seniors, residing in Ohio, graduating from an Ohio high school in 2019.
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need. The EFC on your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) must be less than $7,000 to apply. In addition, your college Financial Aid Award letter must show a minimum $4,000 need.
- Applicants must have a specific career goal and be highly motivated to reach their career goal.
- Although this is not an academically based scholarship, applicants must demonstrate academic promise and good character. A minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA is required.
- Deadline April 5th, 2019

Butler County Fire Chiefs’ Association Community Scholarship
- The Butler County Fire Chief’s Association has announced their scholarship for those High School Students that are interested in/on an educational path beneficial to a career in Fire/EMS Service:
- Students must be a resident in Butler County OR have a parent who works in Public Safety within Butler County
- The Scholarship is open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors in High School
