What's Happening This Week
Yurusti had several fun activities planned for these past few school days. Friday was relay race day and our kiddos had a blast! The Physical Education teacher is in charge of organizing an active recess where the students partake in something out of the ordinary; in past months it's been a yoga class, Zumba or other group of exercise activities. This month’s active recess was the relay races between classes of the same grade level. The students cheered for one another and had huge smiles on their faces the entire time!
Weekend Fun
Our ambassadors had a very eventful weekend. Many wrote about visits to the beach, volcanoes or rainforest. Some students were so excited to share pictures with us of their adventures with their host families. Even the few that reported feeling homesick last week are enjoying time with their Costa Rican families.
Story Telling
The librarian at Yurusti planned a storytelling class for fourth through sixth grade students. She told urban legends about the area and invited the students to tell stories of their own. A few Yurusti students told stories that their parents or grandparents had shared with them. An exchange student from Dual Language Academy volunteered and told the story of the “Chupacabra” completely in Spanish!
