NEW! Message from the Principal
Happy Friday, Eagle Families!
We have had a short, but busy week here at Mesa Verde! ASB participated in a day of learning and planning that was focused on building community and culture within our school; our Foundation met to discuss our fundraising efforts so far and review teacher requests for funding that focused on collaboration, hands-on learning, and getting outside; members of our Equity Team collaborated and began planning professional development for the year; band students practiced and prepared for a moving tribute to 9/11 victims that they performed this morning; students learned about the events of 9/11/01 and the lasting impact of that day; sixth graders learned about surface tension in a hands-on science lab, while seventh graders participated in an online lab to help them understand density and volume. And that's just a glimpse of what this week looked like at Mesa Verde!!
Our focus this year is on Relationships, Inclusion, Supports, and Experiences so we can RISE together, and that was very evident this week!
Have a great weekend, Eagle families!
Your Proud Principal,
NEW! Remembering 9/11
MVMS School Site Council
MVMS wants you! Each public school has a School Site Council that is comprised of the principal, school personnel, and parents. The purpose of the Council is to review school goals based on school data and allocate the funds necessary to support the goals. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents who are interested in learning about the infrastructure that supports our children’s education. The Council meets approximately five to six times a year. Our first two meetings of the year will be October 7 and October 21.
Currently, we have one (1) parent position open for a two-year term. This is an elected position. If you are interested in serving on Mesa Verde’s School Site Council, please email Assistant Principal Dennis Panganiban at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, September 13, 2021 at 4pm. You will be asked to provide a short statement for the ballot.

MESA VERDE CLUBS
What Club Do You Want To Be A Part Of?
Off Campus Passes (Early Release)
Student safety is a major concern for us. Students must be signed out at the attendance desk before departing early. Students are not allowed to wait in front of the school to be picked up during school hours.
If your student needs to leave early from school, please send a note with your student. Notes should be given to the Attendance secretary in the attendance office and will help us to minimize interruptions to the classrooms. If you forgot to send a note you may call the Attendance Hotline @ 538-5692 to have an off campus pass sent to your student and we will do our best to honor your request in a timely manner.
When calling writing a note, please indicate:
- Your student's first and last name
- Their grade
- The time your student needs to leave school
- Whether or not your student will return that day
Please meet your child at the attendance desk to be signed out at the time of departure. Be prepared to show your identification when checking out your child.
If your student returns to school after being picked up early, please have him/her check back in at the Attendance desk before heading to class.
If your student is absent, please call the Attendance hotline @ (858) 538-5692 NO LATER than 10:00 a.m. each day your student is absent. A parent or legal guardian must make this call.
In the message, please state:
- Your student’s first and last name
- Their grade
- The date of the absence(s)
- The reason (if sick, please list symptoms)
- Your relationship to the student
- A phone number where you can be reached.
Students will be listed as truant if we do not receive a call or note from a parent/guardian.
