KINDNESS COUNTS WEEK February 16-19
During this week, we will be focusing on kindness and positive behaviors through morning announcements and student activities. National Random Acts of Kindness day is Wednesday, February 17th. Look for a list of fun activities that your family can participate in to spread kindness through our community in your child's Friday folder on February 19th.
It is time for our Spring Book Fair. The theme is Feelin’ Groovy Book Fair coming February 22 – 26th. Volunteer at our spring Book Fair — a far-out celebration of reading with hundreds of fun, engaging, affordable books for kids to discover.
To be part of the volunteer team, please contact Susan Noland, Media Specialist at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Volunteers Needed to Serve on Dacula Cluster Schools Foundation
The Executive Board of the Dacula Cluster Schools Foundation is looking to have three representatives from each school to assist with event committees. If you are interested please let me know and I will pass your name on to Sue Storck.
PTA Executive Board
Would you like to serve on the PTA Executive Board for the 2016-2017 school year?
We are looking for PTA members to join us as we serve the Mulberry Community. The Nominating Committee was elected during the PBL Showcase on January 28, 2016 and are ready to select the slate for the upcoming election. If you are interested in serving as Co-President, Treasurer, Secretary, VP of Fundraising, VP of Communication or VP of Membership, please pick up a questionnaire from the front office.
All completed questionnaires must be submitted no later than 9:00 AM on Tuesday, March 31st, 2016. The candidates will be presented and elected at Multicultural Night on Thursday, April 14, 2016. If you have any questions, you may contact Kris Currie at email@example.com .
As a reminder, the Personal Safety lessons for K-5th grade students will begin this month. The Think First & Stay Safe™ program is a research-based program that teaches specific personal safety education by way of interactive classroom lessons, classroom posters, role playing and corresponding activities. Think First & Stay Safe™ enables students to take an active and necessary role in protecting themselves from abuse and exploitation.
If you have questions or would like to review the personal safety materials, please contact our school counselor, Darcy Long, as she is more than happy to discuss this curriculum with you.
If you prefer that your child not participate in the sexual abuse and safety prevention lessons, please write and sign a note indicating your preferences and send it to your child’s teacher. Unless written documentation is received, your child will participate in the sexual abuse prevention and safety lessons.
If you are available to speak to small groups of students about your occupation on March 10th, please fill out the form in your child’s red folder and return it to your child’s classroom teacher by February 5th. We would be honored to have you join us for this exciting learning experience!
Fifth Grade Yearbook Dedications: Deadline has passed!
I have emailed proofs for all the dedications that I have finished.
If you haven't gotten your proof, then I am missing part of your order.
Please check your email!
Slide Show and Dedications:
If you sent me photos for a 5th grade dedication, and you'd like to use the same photos
for the 5th grade slide show, please email me and let me know. I'll be happy to forward
those photos to the person putting the slide show together.
Yearbook Photo Needs:
All the 5th, 4th and 3rd grade portrait pages have been submitted. If you're a camera parent for a 2nd, 1st, K or Pre-K class,
please make sure you've uploaded all your photos! I'll be working on those grades in the next week.
How do you submit photos for the yearbook? Upload your photos at www.replayit.com from a laptop or tablet. There is also a ReplayIt app for iphone or android. Please tag your photos with either the teacher's name or the event name. (The app is faster...)
Final Yearbook Count
I'm turning in my final count to the plant on February 26. If you preordered, then you're guaranteed a yearbook.
If not, I'll have a small supply of extra copies. I'll continue to sell them, first come, first served.
I anticipate selling out early this year!
Order online at www.jostensyearbooks.com or look for the new order form coming home soon. Yearbooks are $30
Not sure if you ordered? Contact me! firstname.lastname@example.org
SIX FLAGS READING
Six Flags Reading Program has begun!
Each student must read 6 hours to earn a Six Flags ticket
to be used this summer. Six hours is only 360 minutes!
Record any reading from January 16 – February 19.
What do parents have to do? All you have to do is
complete the reading log of your child’s reading minutes.
Your child’s teacher sent home the log in the Friday folder.
I can’t find my child’s reading log? If you misplace your log, feel free to ask
the teacher for another log. All reading MUST be completed on a Six Flags reading log.
When is the deadline? All reading logs must be returned to your
child’s teacher by February 22.
We strongly encourage you to send your child home the same way every day. However, we do understand that emergencies do arise. Should you need to change your child's transportation, a hand written note from home is required with a parent signature.
Phone calls and emails are not accepted.
