Once again, Goshen Center School was among one of the top-performing schools in the Governor’s 2016 Summer Reading Challenge. Four students names were picked from a hat and attended the award ceremony that was held at the Connecticut State Library in Hartford on Friday, May 19th. Governor Dannel P. Malloy conducted this award ceremony and recognized students of the top-performing schools. The students that attended this honorable event were: Elizabeth, Cassidy, Chase, and Jillian. There were fifteen top-performing elementary schools in attendance and when our school was announced we had the honor to shake Governor Malloy’s hand and have a picture taken with him. We were so proud to have these four students represent Goshen Center School and to be a part of this wonderful and admirable event.

Summer Garden Maintenance
Over the next few weeks, GCS students will be readying the beds, sowing seeds and transplanting plants into the Garden of Life for this year’s growing season!
Through sustainable, organic practices the garden brings life-long, authentic learning into the lives of our students who work hard to collaboratively bring the garden to life. Throughout the summer, the delicious, nutritious produce is enjoyed by those in need at area soup kitchens and food banks and by families maintaining the garden. Upon arrival back to school in the fall, students enjoy the freshly picked produce and the GCS community is invited to join us at our Harvest Luncheon to enjoy the dishes each class freshly prepared.
The outreach, celebrations, and success of the garden would not be possible without the help of families maintaining the garden during the summer.
We are seeking families to sign-up for one week. (Consider sharing the week with another family!) If your family is able to help, please fill out this form.

Summerfest - Camp for students in grades 2-8
Wamogo High School is pleased to announce that for the upcoming summer of 2017, we are running our very own summer program: Summerfest.
This is a 6 week long camp-style program that is 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) from 9am - 2pm, and runs from June 26th - August 3rd. Sessions are split into 2 week increments and you may sign your child up for multiple sessions if you so choose. Summerfest is open to all Region 6 students of all ability levels in grades 2 - 8. The cost is $75 per week per child with transportation available from central locations for participants. July 5-7 is a shortened week and costs $50.
Summerfest features tons of fun, daily activities led by a team of peer leaders, which include: outdoor sports, classic camp games, arts and crafts, music and drama, water carnivals, cooking, gardening, STEM, dance, team building games, and much more.

BOX TOPS
Please continue to clip Box Tops off your favorite products! Ten cents doesn't sound like much but they add up fast and help the PTO provide Enrichment opportunities for GCS students. If possible, ask other family members, co-workers and neighbors to collect them as well. This is a quick reminder that at the end of each month the classroom that has collected the most Box Tops gets a prize. See the below attachment for a list of products that have Box Tops on their labels.
A big thank you to our BTFE coordinators, Heike Robillard and Chrissy Steward.
Thank you!
