Auxier Honors Our Veterans
What People are Saying About our Veteran's Day Ceremony
“I thought Veteran's Day was amazing! I saw a lot of veterans and heard a lot of stories, but my favorite was my Grandpa’s story. I loved setting up for the veterans and taking them on a tour. Then, we heard all the lovely third graders sing the branches of the military as well as speeches from some of our amazing students about their perspective of Veteran’s day. It was a great day!”
We look forward to this event every year.....it just gets better and better. The way that you involve all of the students is a testament to the school's dedication to this project! Give yourself, the administration, teachers, staff member and students a big pat on the back.....job well done!!! See you next year!!!
Leader In Me - What does Being Proactive Really Mean?
Auxier Receives Generous Donation
This week we received a generous donation from the AESOP Organization & the Earnhardt/Bader Family. Words cannot express how thankful we are to receive this donation. Their generosity will help fund necessary academic programs, technology, &/or leadership opportunities to support our students!!!
From the Health Office
It's that time of year when sniffles and sneezes can turn into flu and strep. When our students are sick, we want them to have time to rest and recover at home. This also benefits all Auxier students and staff as it reduces the possibility of spreading sickness to others. Please be mindful of your child's symptoms and follow the guidelines below to determine whether your child should attend school.
Souper Bowl Canned Food Drive Starts Next Week!
The Canned Food Drive is coming to Auxier! It will be 11/18 through 11/23, the food will be going to the Chandler Care Center. This is so important because it can increase the supply of high need items. It can also save pantries thousands of dollars a year. Even a small donation can help enormously to help feed the hungry. So, please donate to the Auxier Food Drive. Who knows? Maybe your class will even win a donut party!
Hey Students...Nominate a Teacher for the Silver Apple Award!
From Channel 3TV - Arizona's Family
At Channel 3TV, Arizona’s Family, we value Arizona’s excellent educators. We can all remember a teacher who profoundly impacted our lives—a teacher who has gone above and beyond in their classroom to make a difference. To show our appreciation, we created the Silver Apple Award 20 years ago.
Each year, 8 Arizona teachers are hand-picked by a panel of judges from letters submitted by students across the Valley. Students share their stories of deserving teachers who inspire, and this year I want to invite your school to nominate your outstanding teachers!
If chosen, the winning teacher will receive a $1,000 check, a Silver Apple Award and a featured story to air during two 3TV newscasts.
Applying is simple and free! Visit https://www.azfamily.com/community/silver_apple and download the nomination form and official rules. The nomination form can also be found here: http://lmgcorporate.com/phxdigital/community/SilverAppleNominationForm.pdf.
To submit a nomination, students must write in 100 words or less, “Why this teacher is special." Finished nominations must then be faxed to (602) 207-3545 or mailed to:
Silver Apple Award
5555 North 7th Avenue
Phoenix, Arizona 85013
There is no limit to the number of entries each school can submit! We look forward to your application and reading about your incredible teachers.
TAX CREDIT DONATIONS HELP US FUND FIELD TRIPS AND PROGRAMS!
Did you know our school relies on tax credit donations to fund field trips and other programs at our school? When paying your Extra-Curricular fees, please consider donating up to the maximum allowable. Every dollar helps us fund the many great things we do here at Auxier: field trips, Accelerated Reader, Scholastic, and Time for Kids, just to name a few.
When making your donation, you can choose to have it directed toward a specific grade level or to go to the general fund.
Arizona law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400 per calendar year if filing status is Married, filing Joint Return; $200 per calendar year if filing status is Single or Head of Household; and, $200 per calendar year if filing status is Married filing separate return — for contributions that fund extracurricular activities in public schools. A tax credit is a full refund, not a deduction.

Second Step - Social Emotional Program
Auxier is so excited to begin our social emotional curriculum, Second Step. Second Step focuses on teaching students tools to enable them to be successful academically, socially and emotionally. As an example, Miss Cook taught a lesson this week on active listening to her 4th grade students. The lesson began with the game "telephone." They then watched a scenario where a student struggled with using appropriate active listening skills, and they discussed how the student could change her actions and become a better listener. Miss Cook's students then got to watch the student try again, which resulted in active listening. The lesson was concluded by giving students the opportunity to work with a partner and practice their active listening skills. Miss Cook also sent home information and activities that would reinforce her lesson at home.
Although we are in the beginning stages of implementing Second Step, we are very excited about the curriculum and lessons that will be provided to students. We see this as an opportunity to improve the skills necessary to help each student be successful.
