Karen Kirby, Counselor
Welcome Back to School!! Hi, I’m Karen and I am your Guidance Counselor and a proud Panda at Penn!! This is my 36th year in Education, my second year at Penn. I have taught public schools in Florida; moved to TX as Resource Teacher & Counselor at a private deaf school for several years before I went back to public school as Guidance Counselor. I actually retired back in 2010 and moved back to Florida to be near my extended family members; however, my husband was offered a job here in Tulsa, so here we are. I really missed working with children, so came out of retirement to work as guidance counselor.
I attended East Tennessee State University for my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and my Master of Education from University of North Florida. I am also a lifetime member of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and serve as volunteer at their bi-annual conventions all over the country. I also love to dance, be it country western or ballroom.
My family consists of my husband Tony and our son Mac, a sophomore in high school. My husband’s daughter Krystle and our grandson Ezra visit us whenever they can….we love and surely spoil our grandson.
