Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 24th March 2017
happy retirement mrs webster
This week we said goodbye and a huge thank you to one of our longest serving members of staff. Mrs Webster has prepared meals for over a thousand children for twenty two years. One of the first to arrive at school each day, Linda has shown so much commitment to the children of Cathedral School. We will miss her efficient presence, and her dedication to the children. We are sure she will enjoy her well deserved retirement.
comic relief
A huge thank you to everyone for the support given to Comic Relief Day. The children looked amazing in red and it was a really fun day. The Nursery and Reception classes held a coffee morning and raised £72, we shall add this to the money raised by the rest of the school and fill you in next week on a grand total (we need time to count it). Thank you to those parents who sent in cakes, we were inundated with sugary snacks! On that note we wish you all a happy weekend.
visit to our partner school in leeds
Our Year 5 children went to Leeds on Wednesday, to visit St Peter's School. The children absolutely LOVED meeting their pen pals and can't wait for them to come and visit our school in the summer term.
St Peter's primary has had a partnership with our school for a number of years and we really value the links we have established. Our two church schools share the same values but are in quite contrasting locations and children in both schools gain a lot from linking together.
nursery consultation
A consultation survey is available below. Can we encourage everyone to complete it please?
These changes are proposed for the nursery but the before and after school childcare will run in conjunction with similar provision for the rest of school, details to follow.

year 6 welcome worship
Year 6 were delighted by the brilliant turnout of parents for their worship on Thursday morning about giving back to the environment. Their theme fitted in well with some of our Lent challenges this week; we have helped other people with their work but also helped the environment by switching off all electrical devices when we leave a room and by picking up litter.
100% again!
Well done Year 4, 100% of children reading 5 times or more this week again (as noted by an adult in their reading journal). Three more classes with over 90%, including Year 2 for the first time, well done all!
sickness bug reminder
Unfortunately we have had a few children with upset tummies recently. It is very important that children stay at home for at least 48 hours following the last incident of sickness or diarrhoea so that we can prevent spread of disease, thank you.
we wish all our mums and mothers everywhere a very happy mothers day
