Phoenix News
Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast
April 5, 2020
Parents and Students,
Collegiate Academy finished our first week of new high school lessons and our 2nd week of TCC NE online learning this week. CA students have been attending webex's, turning in work and navigating the new systems with ease. As you read on Friday in the CA grading policy for the 4th nine weeks, high school grades will be pass (100) or fail (69) and TCC NE college courses will be the grade a student earns. The TCC drop date is April 23. Please keep a close watch on your TCC grade and if you feel you need to drop the course, please contact your Pathways teacher or Mr. Cavanagh BEFORE the drop date. We understand that moving to an online platform could be difficult for some students to complete their college course. Let us know if you are struggling. We want all CA students to get through this time and be ready to continue face to face classes in August.
Senior students and parents, we are working to design ways to celebrate your great accomplishments in June. We will be sending a Senior News newsletter this week with updated information! This is not the Senior year you anticipated, but it will certainly be one for you to remember. And know this, the Collegiate Academy staff and faculty are so proud of the class of 2020! You have raised the bar and set a new standard for academic success!
Many in our Phoenix Family have been touched one way or the other through this pandemic. Some with illness, some with job loss, and some with anxiety with what the future holds. One thing I know for sure, this will pass and we will be stronger together! If you know of a family or if your family needs anything, please let me or someone at CA know! We are all in this together and are ready to help!
As we look to the future, I have attached the 2020/2021 CA calendar! YES! Can't wait to start the new school year!
Stay Well!
Always grateful,
Ms. Knutz

SCHOOL COUNSELOR CHRONICLES
Counseling News:
All students have been enrolled in a google classroom that will help them sign up for classes when they become available on APRIL 20th. There are several videos and a few surveys that the students will need to complete, as well as meeting with their pathways teachers. If you, or your student, have any questions about signing up for Fall classes please don’t hesitate to email me. This is an unprecedented time and we’re all learning together, but this is a time that your student needs to take control of their learning in order for us to be successful.
TCC’s drop deadline for spring 2020 classes (this semester) has been pushed back to April 23rd and TCC’s fall registration date will be April 20th.
For drops: You CANNOT just drop a class. You must first contact your pathways teacher and Mr. Cavanagh to get approval for the drop. You need to also be aware that depending on where you are in your graduation plan, this decision may take you off track for your Associate’s as well as independent study or Optional Flexible School Day.
For Summer Classes: If you’re interested in signing up for summer classes you should reach out to your Pathways teacher. They have access to a survey that they will send you that will act as an application. YOU MAY NOT TAKE ONLINE SUMMER CLASSES. I know that may seem counterintuitive considering the fact that we aren’t currently allowing face to face classes but our agreement with TCC does not include their online coursework, therefore if you were to sign up for an online course you’d be responsible for purchasing the textbook yourself.
Finally, if anyone is struggling with social emotional needs or is just bored and in need of someone to talk to feel free to send me an email and we can work on setting up a time to meet digitally. Stay safe!
