Patti's Place!
Here’s to the start of a new year!! Take a moment and remember to build relationships with your students. You never know what they are dealing with outside of your class, so make a connection and remember to smile, be kind and compassionate! You can control what happens within the walls of your classroom. Everyday's a new day and a fresh start for all, remind your students of this.
Please enjoy this video by Mark Medley, a Special Ed Teacher and Restorative Discipline Consultant.
He says it best, “It’s dedicated to the teachers that serve them and will hopefully remind them that all it takes is one minute or one smile to positively impact the entire trajectory of a student’s life. This dedication goes out with love and respect to all students and all teachers from the past, in the present, and in the generations to come.” Also, below is an activity that you may choose to use in your classroom.

60 Second Relate Breaks
Teachers build 60 second breaks into their classes to allow for students to discover more about their peers in micro frequencies. The teacher poses a simple, shallow, fun, easy question for the students to ask one another. This is designed to be like a brain break, but your students are actually connecting with one another as opposed to checking out on their cellphones. *Please note the questions do not relate to content being taught.
SHOUT OUTS!! (Teachers, we'd love to hear your Shout Outs. Please send them to Lori Tarbell by Thursday afternoon.)
WOW!!!! Kudos Math 6th grade PLC!
