Animal experimentation

EQ: Should we experiment on animals

What is animal experimentation?

Animal experimentation is when scientists use animals for testing to find results without hurting humans, and when scientists do tests on animals. Scientists breed animals just for testing. Scientists use animals not just for diseases, they can learn more about animals through humane ways, but some cosmetic companies torture the animals and end up killing them.

Pros

*Can save human lives

*Some animals have the same diseases as us so we can test medicine on them

*Some understandings of diseases have been learned from animal experimentation

*Some scientists use humane ways for experiments and treat the animals nicely, such as putting cheese in a maze and a mouse looks for it, in the end its rewarded with the cheese

Cons

*innocent animal's lives are wasted and used for cosmetics

*a lot of times its inhumane and scientists torture the animals

*animals have been taken out of their habitats and ecosystems could be destroyed by it

*Some animals are born into testing, never living a full, natural life

Answer to essential question

I believe that we just test on animals, BUT, only through humane ways, animals should not be used for cosmetics and other products. Scientists can study animals through tests in humane ways. And after the testing reward the animal or if they use a wild animal release it back into the wild. If they follow these guidelines and use humane experiments, I think we should experiment on animals if necessary.
