Newsletter Week 5 Term 4
Lauriston School 15th November 2022
Principal's Message
What a wonderful Year 3-5 Camp and Big Day Out we enjoyed together last week! A massive thanks to our awesome team-Miss Nerina, Mrs A, Mrs Adams, Miss Chalke, Mr Taylor, Tania Wallace and Trudy Tarbotton and a special acknowledgement to our camp leader Miss Laura Twiss and Big Day out lead, Miss Georgina Turpie. As you can imagine a lot of work went into the camp behind the scenes-both during and prior to these E.O.T.C experiences and I am proud of the way our staff provided such wonderful experiences for students and whanau alike.
A big thank you to all our volunteers who also supported the camp and big day out with transport, parent help and in helping support or run additional activities for our children. We are so fortunate to enjoy such engaged support for our programmes and hope we continue to enjoy such support moving forward. Thanks also to those parents who have taken the time to acknowledge and thank our teaching team-sadly there aren't many messages but of the few we receive, I know these mean a lot to our team who worked hard to create such a special week for all. It's not too late for those of you who had thought about sending in a message but haven't had the chance-please do consider doing so-a little appreciation goes a long way for our committed and hard working team.
On that note, a final thanks from us to the Lauriston School Support who following confirmation from a community survey were able to offer a $50 subsidy to the Year 3-5 Camp and $100 subsidy to the upcoming Year 6 Camp at Living Springs.
I would also like to acknowledge the The Community Trust of Mid South Canterbury for enabling me as Principal this year to cover the cost of all water based activities for our Year 6's during their Big Day out on Lake Camp. It was a special moment rafting up on the water with our 17, Year 6 students, most of whom were new entrants when I began my role as Principal back in 2017. To share this poignant moment with Mrs A, as she celebrates the end of the year with her Year 6 group, was also a special moment for us both.
We hope you enjoy a few photos from our fun time away together.
Nga mihi nui

BOT Acknowledgement
The BOT would also like to make a special mention to Laura and Georgie for their leadership of the Year 3-5 camp and the Big Day Out which was a huge success.
