Extended Absences and Arrival
As a school community we value attendance and arriving to school on time. Every minute of the day is important to a student’s growth and development. Research has shown that a higher attendance pattern leads to higher success and achievement academically.
Remember! The BMS building opens at 7:30am and the school day begins at 8:00am. Please try your best to get your child to school so that students have a chance to go to their lockers, unpack, greet their teachers, view our brief morning announcements, and have a smooth start to their day.
School Wide Musical
Disney’s worldwide phenomenon is taking Broadway Junior and Brunswick Middle School by (snow)storm!
Announcing Brunswick Middle School’s musical for 2019 …. just released this year …..
the show that’s being promoted as a terrific option for middle schools to perform and for communities to attend and enjoy ….
Disney’s Frozen, Jr.
“The enchanting modern classic from Disney is ready for your Broadway Junior stars! Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.” (mtishows.com)
Everyone who auditions WILL be part of the play. It is a safe and welcoming environment. Participants do not need to be experienced singers or dancers. Participants may audition to be in the ensemble, if they prefer.
Parts are determined by Maryland Ensemble Company, our partners for the production.
Audition Dates:
Monday September 9th (primarily 7th and 8th graders)
Wednesday September 11th (primarily 6th graders)
Students need only attend one or the other. Grades are a suggestion, so if it presents a scheduling conflict for your family, you may choose the other date.
(This is hard to predict ahead of time as it depends on the number of kids auditioning. Once your child auditions, they may leave - however, for safety reasons adult contact with either Mrs. Mossburg or Mrs. Rogowsky must be made before your child leaves the premises.
*Students will be asked to read and sing a portion of the script. This will be provided to students who decide to audition.
Show dates:
December 6th and 7th 2019 on the stage at Brunswick High School
Tech week will be the week before the show. (Details will be provided to participants.)
Cost:
$40
Includes the script, show T shirt and parts of the costumes, and a practice CD. In addition, we provide digital pictures of rehearsal and the show. If we are able to arrange recording for a DVD, the cost of that is covered.
(To request assistance with cost confidentially see Mrs. Mossburg, Mrs. Rogowsky or someone from the counseling office.)
Practices
Mondays and Wednesdays, and some Fridays - after school until 5:00. Prompt pick up required.
A calendar will be provided to participants. Attendance is expected.

Dismissal Procedures
BMS students will have new dismissal procedures starting the first day of school.
BMS will have two bus runs this year due to road construction on Route 464. All students will be dismissed at 3:00.
Students Riding a Bus During the First Bus Run
All students on the first bus run will exit the building at 3:00pm through the front door, end of the 6th and 7th grade hallway door and side door on the 8th grade wing. Students should go directly to their buses.
The buses on the first run include: B01, B02, B03, B04, B10, B13, B14
Students who Walk Home (Walkers)
Walkers will exit the building at 3:00pm through the front door, end of the 6th and 7th grade hallway door and side door on the 8th grade wing. Walkers should exit building and use the sidewalks and crosswalks to exit BMS property. Students should also prepare to listen to BMS staff at the crosswalks for directions.
Students who are Car Riders
Car riders will exit the building at 3:00pm through the front door, end of the 6th and 7th grade hallway door and side door on the 8th grade wing. Car riders should move towards the car rider pickup line using the sidewalks along the front of the building. Students are to enter vehicles from the sidewalk. They are not to cross over through the vehicle line. Students are to wait on the curb until the passenger side of the vehicle is adjacent/parallel to the curb.
Students Riding a Bus During the Second Bus Run
All students on the second bus run will be dismissed at 3pm and will report to the cafeteria. The buses on the second run include: B05, B06, B07, B08, B09, B11, B12, B15, B16
Once the students' bus arrives, they will be called by bus number. Supervision staff will alert the students. They will exit the cafeteria and head straight down the hall in order to exit through the front doors.
At 3:05 each day, car rider traffic and student walkers will be stopped from moving to allow buses to exit the property. It is very important for parents who are driving and students who are walking to follow the directions of staff who are on duty. We have worked with FCPS transportation and Brunswick City Police to confirm that we have a plan for a safe dismissal of our students. We appreciate your patience and cooperation with our new dismissal.
