My Summer
My topic is about my summer. I did a lot of stuff this year for some reason. I didn’t even get one day to take in the fact that it was summer. As soon as school was over I had to start packing because I knew I had no time to procrastinate. The Monday after school ended I went to a church conference for one week. My cousin Ta`Nia and I have gone since we were 12. We love it because we make new friends each year and we get our own hotel room. Having our own room wasn’t the best part though, we got to go up and down the stairs and have fun with our friends. We talked about god and everyday life and things. They fed us the best food, so that was nice.
The conference ended about 10:45 on Friday night. When I got home I still wasn’t allowed to stay up late and enjoy the summer I had to unpack all my clothes then repack for my trip to Costa Rica. I was going with my English teacher and about 9 students from school and my cousin. We had to be at the airport at 12:00pm. Naturally I am a procrastinator so I didn’t completely finish packing until 10 minutes before I had to go. Procrastination is my down fall because I always forget something.
When I finally arrived in Costa Rica around 10pm that night I got off the plane and its freezing. I didn’t expect it to be cold in the middle of June. The next thing I do is look for my jacket, then I realize it was thousands of miles away and on my bed. It was so sad. After I got over the initial shock of being cold we took an hour bus ride to our hotel. We were all so exhausted from being on a plane all day and our lay over in Atlanta we were all sleep. The next day we had to be up at 6am to take another bus ride for 3 hour to our next hotel where our first activity was. Once we got there we went on an eco-tour and they told us all about Costa Rica. It was pretty boring but that’s ok because rest of our trip was nice.
The trip was about 9 days, we had a lot of things planned. Each day we did something different and stayed in a different hotel. The second day we went on a hike through the rainforest. It was nice but TeShayla don’t do tree or bugs, oh yeah and I’m not too big on physical activity either. Anyway I think we had a little free time to go shopping after that which was great. The rest of the week was nice. We went zip lining, hiking up to a volcano, and hiking 2 miles to a beach, kayaking, and swimming, hiked up and down 3000 steps to a waterfall, visited a Costa Rican school and so much more.
It was a very fun trip, I met people that went to school with me but never met before. My experience in Costa Rica was nice but all the hiking we had to do darn near killed me. If I could do it all over again I would’ve been in better shape when it was time to go. I had the best time of my life but I was glad to be back home, I missed my family and my bed. When the trip was over my birthday came that was fun. Then at the end of July I had a family reunion. After that came August, my aunt’s birthday, we went to Myrtle Beach for the week. Before I knew it my very expensive summer was over now I’m sitting in English writing about it.
