What We Are Learning This Week
We still working in Unit 8 -Traditional Tales and Whole/Part/Whole. This unit is about knowing different ways of communicating one's thinking and how important it is to make good decisions, knowing similarities in all things and people, seeing how things can be taken apart and/or put together again, and how using tools can help us learn. Best of all we are going to read a lot of fairy tales and nursery rhymes.
Our Main Goals this week:
Language: Children will be able to identify the letters and the beginning sounds of objects. Our children will be working on classic Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes, sequencing the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and sequencing the story.
Math: This week we will be working on sizing objects. Big, Medium and Small. Going to a fast food restaurant is a good way of showing different sizes of drinks and food items. Your child will be working on measurement in the upcoming days. You child will be exposed to the word area. In pre-k we keep things simple. We will be able to recognize how much can be placed within an object- volume. We will be filling different containers with a variety of items. This is the exploration of the concept of volume. We will be measuring dry goods like rice, flour and beans.
Social Studies: Your child will be working on recognizing differences between people and cultures.
Science- We will be building bridges from different materials.

TARDIES
Please be timely. We open the door at 7:20 am. Class starts at 7:45 am. We start lining up for specials at 7:40 am. Then we are moving at that time to specials and afterwards to breakfast.
LABEL MEALS
NAP TIME ITEMS
Please wash nap time blankets and return to school on Monday. We had several students who did not bring napping materials last week.
Should your child bring a sleeping buddy it must be marked so we can identify who the owner is. We had an incident with two students who had the same stuffed animal. Please try to reframe from sending toys to school but we understand sometimes young children need a snuggle buddy at nap time.
Also we need to have your child sleep with their shoes on. This is for fire safety. Should we have to leave the building for a fire drill they have to have shoe on feet. We would not have time to get them up, put shoes on their feet and get out of the building in a timely manner.
Dress Code and Weather Appropriate
Please make sure that your child's clothes are not too small or tight. We are at that point in the year where our students are growing and things be come a little too short or we can't button things.
