Novels continued...
Fourth graders have been either reading Pie or Ninth Ward with me in the library. We continued reading in our perspective novels and in both tensions are rising. The two classes reading Pie (Mrs. Phillip's class and Mrs. Capper's class) are trying to solve a couple mysteries surrounding Aunt Polly's death and some strange occurrences that we noticed at her funeral. Mrs. Olson's class is reading Ninth Ward and we are on edge because we know hurricane Katrina is about to strike the community that Lanesha lives in.
Fourth graders are given time to search for books and check out their choices after we read together. During this time we have been talking a lot about how the library is organized, in particular the non fiction section and students are becoming more and more independent in their abilities to use the library to find what they are looking for.
