Did you know that the city had nothing in it but the White House. So the Capitol Building is important to Washington D.C. The second Continental Congress began to speak about the building that's why it's there. Did you know there were only thirteen states when this happened? Something really cool is that the Capitol Building is 280 feet tall and weighs over 7 tons.

After a while the lawmakers picked a place. They picked somewhere between the Potomac River, between Virginia and Maryland. Did you know that the topmost lanterns has thirteen columns representing the thirteen colonies. When the Civil War was over the capital of the United States look almost the same as it did when it was over.
