Monitoring Student Learning
Grade reports were mailed home earlier this week. You will notice a new look with our grade card that reflects standards-based learning. An insert about our grading practices (pages 25-26 from the student handbook) was included in this week's mailing for reference purposes.
If you would like more information about your child's learning please visit the PowerSchool Parent Portal. On this site you can review attendance, lunch balances, formative data, summative data, and feedback about learner behaviors in the classroom. Please contact Tena Stoy at 630-9230 in our main office if you need the password for the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
NOTE: Pearson has a mobile app for PowerSchool that is currently showing letter grades. We are working with the app developer and our technology department to correct this error.

Middle School Book Club
A reminder for members of the book club, our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 1st from 2:45-3:45 pm in the learning commons. Laura Cherrito from the Excelsior Springs branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library will be our facilitator. Please see Ms. Travis for any questions about the middle school book club.
Congratulations to Gannon Willis, our GRReat Student of the Week for the week of September 21-25. Each week a GRReat Student is chosen. A student will have his or her name drawn from a list of teacher nominations along with Tiger Paws turned in throughout the week. Students chosen must have no major or minor referrals.
Pictured above: Students in Mr. Weeks' ELT class are currently building a maglev vehicle or a trebuchet. Students will have the opportunity to build both objects and explore the design and scientific principles involved. Learn more about ELT and other technology courses at the middle school at http://mrweeksrobotics.blogspot.com/.
