There is still time to donate to our Annual Food Drive

The Cheltenham Elementary student council is hosting its annual food drive. We will be collecting non-perishable food for local families in need. This year we are requesting that each classroom bring in certain items so that our food boxes will have a good assortment of food. All food items must be brought to school by WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2015. Please be sure to check the expiration date on food items before sending them in to school. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Ann-Marie Tobar or Stephanie Jacob at 215-635-7415 x1055.

CHELTENHAM ELEMENTARY CELEBRATES HOUR OF CODE

“Hour of Code” is a global movement scheduled all week for students in more than 150 countries. This one-hour introduction to computer science is designed to demystify computer code and to show that anybody can learn the basics. Third and fourth grade students in Math Seminar were the first groups to learn computer code on Monday, December 7. Mrs. Golden then pushed into all fourth grade math classes to introduce “Hour of Code” last week. “Hour of Code” lessons will continue in all second and third grade math classes this week. If you would like more information about “Hour of Code”, contact Mrs.Golden or go to www.hourofcode.com. Special thanks to Mrs. Tamar Granor who volunteered her time to help teach during the Hour of Code.

NEW FENCE ON UPPER PLAYGROUND

The upper playground was recently updated with a new fence surrounding the play surface. The kindergarten, 1st grade teachers, and support staff have been waiting patiently for this fence. In addition, the communication tower location at the rear of the building was also outfitted with a matching fence. We would like to thank our Superintendent Dr. Marseille, for his support on these projects.

CoGat Testing- 2nd Grade

Last week second graders at Cheltenham Elementary participated in the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT-7). This standardized assessment of reasoning and problem solving ability is part of the district’s universal screening. The results will help us to know your child better and provide valuable information for placement and instructional decisions.

Donor's Choose Project- Music Stands

Hi Friends,

I want to make sure my students have the materials they need to succeed, so I created a request for my classroom at DonorsChoose.org:

Making a Stand in Making Music!

My project is halfway to being completed and needs a little love. If you chip in to help my students, you'll get awesome photos and our heartfelt thanks.

Thanks so much,

Mrs. Przybylowski
