Springtime in Room 5
Our April Newsletter
Spring Break Updates
Also, I will be going on a cruise from March 27th and will be returning early in the morning on April 3rd. I am unsure as to whether I will be able to access my e-mail during this time so I will respond to all e-mails promptly when I return!
Super Learning in April!
We have already started working on our new reading unit which focuses on how things are made in the world around us and what we can learn from them! We will be reading how-to texts and autobiographies in this unit as well as working on writing our own. Please look out for a parent letter regarding this unit after break!
In math we are still working on combinations of ten, multiple addend problems, and missing parts. Please encourage your child to practice these skills at home with the games How Many Am I Hiding?, Counters in a Cup, Tens Go Fish, and Make 10! I know so many of my students enjoy challenging themselves by finding combinations of 10 with multiple addends!
We just finished up our science unit on weather and had a blast creating our own sails and windmills! Ask your child what sail and windmill designs worked the best! We will begin our next social studies unit when we return from break. This unit focuses on the geography and culture of the United States.
I am looking forward to another month of learning in with my super students!
HAPPY SPRING!

Important Homework Reminders
Please remember to sign and return their reading calendars each day and to check their Jacksonville folders and homework journals to be sure your child is completing their homework! Red Math folders should come back every Friday so that I may check their calendar and the games they played that week. With the new unit, I will be adding more games to their folders!
Also, please check out the link below. This is a super website that has different educational games for just about any content area and topic! I used many of these in my Word Work Symbaloo that they do in class so the students really enjoy this website! These activities can always be done in place of Dreambox on Website Wednesdays!
