Online applications must be submitted by midnight Central Time, June 30, 2017.
Any corrections or updates must be submitted by midnight Central Time, September 23, 2017.

Check with the college(s) you are interested in attending. You may also want to ask your college about its definition of an application deadline - whether it is the date the college receives your FAFSA, or the date your FAFSA is processed.

Selective Service System
https://www.sss.gov/ Men, aged 18 and over, who aren't registered with Selective Service won't qualify for federal student loans or grant programs. This includes Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), Direct Stafford Loans/Plus Loans, National Direct Student Loans, and College Work Study.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship Program Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $28,000/four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.
Who is eligible to apply Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship?
- Be a graduating high school senior, plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States, show leadership potential, demonstrate a dedication to community service, present evidence of financial need, be a United States citizen, have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21
- The Jackie Robinson Foundation prides itself on its diverse pool of Scholars and uses the U.S. Census Bureau definition of minority. If you feel that you are part of a minority group, we encourage you to apply.
- The Jackie Robinson Foundation is a merit-based academic scholarship. It is not a requirement that you participated in a sport.
- The application and letter of recommendation are due by February 15th.

Elizabeth City State University - Thurgood Marshall-Apple Scholarships
ECSU is pleased to offer new one-time $2,500.00 Thurgood Marshall- Apple Scholarships. Theses competitive scholarships will be awarded to 14 incoming freshmen or transfer students who apply for and are accepted to ECSU and meet the following application criteria:
1. Minimum of 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) and 800 on Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT)
2. Intend to Major in one of the following disciplines at ECSU:
1. Aviation Science
3. Computer Science
4. Engineering Technology
6. Graphics Design
3. Submit an essay (300-500 words) describing your college goals.
Additionally, 1 student will receive a $5,000 scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, the requirements rise to a minimum SAT of 900 or a transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The application process is extremely simple, please have interested students complete the ECSU-APPLE Scholarship Application. All applications must be submitted and received by the selection board not later than March 1, 2016 with scholarship recipients announced March 15, 2016.
Charles Edward Cathey Masonic Scholarship
The Cathey Scholarship, funded by the Freemasons of North Carolina through the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, rewards high school seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement. The Grand Lodge Scholarship Committee selects recipients. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, or the equivalent average under the school’s grading system, and be enrolled in an accredited North Carolina high school. The scholarship committee will consider factors including scholastic achievement, participation in extracurricular and civic activities, involvement in the community and personal recommendations.
Completed applications, including all required supporting documents, must be sent in one package and postmarked by Friday, March 11, 2016

North Carolina Scholarship for Children of War Time Veterans
Scholarships in appreciation for the service and sacrifices of North Carolina’s war veterans: a four-year scholarship program at approved schools in North Carolina has been established for the qualifying natural or adopted (before age 15) children of certain class categories of deceased, disabled, combat or POW/MIA veterans.
Applicant must be under age 25 at time of application. The veteran’s qualifying criteria must have occurred during a period of war.
At time of application, applicant must be domiciled and resident of North Carolina.
A. Veteran parent was a legal resident of North Carolina at time of said veteran’s entrance into that period of service in the Armed Forces during which eligibility is established.
B. The applicant, of an eligible veteran, is the natural child or adopted child prior to age 15, who was born in North Carolina and has been a resident of North Carolina continuously since birth.
