It's FAFSA Time!

Federal Deadline

Online applications must be submitted by midnight Central Time, June 30, 2017.
Any corrections or updates must be submitted by midnight Central Time, September 23, 2017.

Check with the college(s) you are interested in attending. You may also want to ask your college about its definition of an application deadline - whether it is the date the college receives your FAFSA, or the date your FAFSA is processed.

Selective Service System Men, aged 18 and over, who aren't registered with Selective Service won't qualify for federal student loans or grant programs. This includes Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), Direct Stafford Loans/Plus Loans, National Direct Student Loans, and College Work Study.


North Carolina High School Athletic Association

Thanks to the generosity of many donors, the NCHSAA Endowed Fund offers several scholarships to eligible student-athletes of NCHSSA member schools. To see the many scholarship available go to then type in "student athlete scholarships".

NCAA Eligibility Center

NCAA Clearinghouse – College-bound student-athletes preparing to enroll in a Division I or Division II school need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to ensure they have met amateurism standards and are academically prepared for college coursework. Athletes need to qualify academically and be cleared as an amateur student-athlete. The 2015-16 NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student Athlete, the 2015-16 NCAA Initial Eligibility Brochure, and addition additional information is available online at Division III college-bound student athletes can visit regarding policies on admission, financial aid, and athletics eligibility.

Class of 2017

Students considering attending college after graduation are strongly encouraged to register to take the ACT and/or SAT college entrance exams. Generate a list of college choices and schedule to attend an open house event or schedule a tour. March 27-April 3, 2016, spring break, is an ideal time to visit universities. Consider following your top choices on social media sites. Keep a record of accomplishments, awards, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and part-time work.

ASVAB - Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) will be given at Camden County High School on March 3, 2016. Stop by the guidance office to register.

Supporting Higher Education and The Families of Mediacom Customers

The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship Program Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $28,000/four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.

Who is eligible to apply Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship?

  • Be a graduating high school senior, plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States, show leadership potential, demonstrate a dedication to community service, present evidence of financial need, be a United States citizen, have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21
  • The Jackie Robinson Foundation prides itself on its diverse pool of Scholars and uses the U.S. Census Bureau definition of minority. If you feel that you are part of a minority group, we encourage you to apply.

NC Motherless Daughters Scholarship - SHEro Incorporated

Criteria for Scholarship Application To be eligible to apply for the SHEro Incorporated Motherless Daughters scholarship, you must meet the below listed criteria:
Full time high school senior female with eligibility to graduate at end of academic year
Earning a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Loss of mother (if selected, we will require official documentation)
Acceptance and intention to attend four year university as a full time student in the fall directly after high school graduation

Alaska Sea Service Scholarship Program

The Alaska Sea Services Scholarship awards up to six $1,000 scholarship annually for undergraduate education to dependent children and spouses of Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Personnel who legally claim Alaska as their state of resident. Golden LEAF Scholarship

The Golden LEAF Scholarship Program will award up to 215 grants, each valued at $12,000. To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be a NC resident, enroll at a qualifying UNC institution, demonstrate financial need (must submit FAFSA), present a satisfactory record of academic achievement and community service. Applications are available at Deadline is March 1, 2016.

Elizabeth City State University - Thurgood Marshall-Apple Scholarships

ECSU is pleased to offer new one-time $2,500.00 Thurgood Marshall- Apple Scholarships. Theses competitive scholarships will be awarded to 14 incoming freshmen or transfer students who apply for and are accepted to ECSU and meet the following application criteria:

1. Minimum of 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) and 800 on Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT)

2. Intend to Major in one of the following disciplines at ECSU:

1. Aviation Science

2. Chemistry

3. Computer Science

4. Engineering Technology

5. Mathematics

6. Graphics Design

3. Submit an essay (300-500 words) describing your college goals.

Additionally, 1 student will receive a $5,000 scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, the requirements rise to a minimum SAT of 900 or a transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The application process is extremely simple, please have interested students complete the ECSU-APPLE Scholarship Application. All applications must be submitted and received by the selection board not later than March 1, 2016 with scholarship recipients announced March 15, 2016.

Charles Edward Cathey Masonic Scholarship

The Cathey Scholarship, funded by the Freemasons of North Carolina through the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, rewards high school seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement. The Grand Lodge Scholarship Committee selects recipients. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, or the equivalent average under the school’s grading system, and be enrolled in an accredited North Carolina high school. The scholarship committee will consider factors including scholastic achievement, participation in extracurricular and civic activities, involvement in the community and personal recommendations.

Completed applications, including all required supporting documents, must be sent in one package and postmarked by Friday, March 11, 2016

The Captain Ernest W. Fox Perpetual Scholarship Program (FOX)

This program was established to provide an education or training benefit to personnel at the Coast Guard Aircraft Repair and Supply Center (ARSC) located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is offered each year and active duty enlisted personnel and officers, civilian employees, and their dependents are eligible to apply. Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline is March 15, 2016.

Camden County Education Foundation, INC.

The Camden County Education Foundation has 6 different scholarships that are offered to graduating seniors of Camden County. Applications are available in the guidance office and are due not later than April 14, 1016.

NC. Community Foundation - Bartlett Faison Scholarship Fund

Eligibility includes graduating high school seniors from Camden County enrolling full-time at North Carolina State University. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic performance with a 3.0 GPA or better, demonstrated athletic ability, good moral character and demonstrated financial need. Elizabeth City Jaycees Scholarship Endowment

Graduating seniors from high schools in Camden, Chowan, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans Counties. The North Carolina Electronic Security Association $1,500 Scholarship to children of active-duty police and fire personnel

The North Carolina Electronic Security Association, an official chartered chapter of the Electronic Security Association (ESA), is pleased to announce the availability of a college scholarship award to sons and daugh­ters of active-duty police and fire personnel. The scholarship award, in the amount of $1,500, is available to qualified high school seniors. North Carolina Scholarship for Children of War Time Veterans

Scholarships in appreciation for the service and sacrifices of North Carolina’s war veterans: a four-year scholarship program at approved schools in North Carolina has been established for the qualifying natural or adopted (before age 15) children of certain class categories of deceased, disabled, combat or POW/MIA veterans.

Applicant must be under age 25 at time of application. The veteran’s qualifying criteria must have occurred during a period of war.

At time of application, applicant must be domiciled and resident of North Carolina.

A. Veteran parent was a legal resident of North Carolina at time of said veteran’s entrance into that period of service in the Armed Forces during which eligibility is established.


B. The applicant, of an eligible veteran, is the natural child or adopted child prior to age 15, who was born in North Carolina and has been a resident of North Carolina continuously since birth.

State Employees’ Credit Union “People Helping People” Scholarship ***

Scholarship for graduating seniors whose parent is a client of the Child Support Program.
