Guemes Island Bus Routes Meeting
Middle school will dismiss at 2:40 p.m.; Cap Sante High School will dismiss at 2:35 p.m., and Anacortes High School will dismiss at 2:45 p.m. Because of the ferry schedule, the district will have just one island run in the afternoon.
As a result, middle and high school students will have the following options for after-school transportation:
● Middle and high school students can catch the bus at their school when school gets out, and the bus will drop them at the ferry crossing at 3:15 (no transportation within the island to students’ stops); OR
● All students can meet the bus at Island View elementary at 3:30 p.m., and they will be transported to their regular bus stop via the 4:00 p.m. ferry.
We know that schedule changes and transportation issues impact families greatly, and we want to offer you an opportunity to meet with us to ask questions.
We will be available on Monday, June 17 at 5:30 at the Guemes Island Community Church.
Please RSVP to if you would like to attend: (360) 503-1211 or tramsay@asd103.org.
We appreciate your patience as we work through these impacts. If you have any questions, please contact us at (360) 503-1211.

ASD won't field varsity football team in fall
Due to low interest among high school upperclass students, and out of a concern for student safety, Anacortes won’t field a varsity football team in the fall.
“We are disappointed that we won’t have a viable varsity team next year,” said Erik Titus, Anacortes athletics and activities director. “But it doesn’t make sense in terms of student health and safety to push inexperienced sophomores or freshman into varsity play before they are ready.”
The district will offer seniors with previous varsity-level experience an opportunity to play with another Skagit County school through an inter-cooperative agreement.
“We will continue to build our program and take full advantage of our new stadium,” said Titus. “We remain committed to offering a football program that balances student safety and competition.”
Titus plans to work with other districts to develop a junior varsity-level schedule for the season, including Homecoming.
