Welcome Back, QSI Skopje Community Events!
Dear QSI Skopje Community,
This year, we are committed to providing all of the opportunities stolen by COVID in the safest way possible. On October 2nd, the Parent Support Group (PSG) will host the first community event on campus since the pandemic started! #ForwardTogether
Research indicates that family and community involvement in schools is associated with improvements in students' academic achievement, higher attendance rates, improved quality of school programs, and an increase in positive attitudes about school. Attending school events may seem time-consuming, intimidating, or even uninteresting. However, these opportunities offer you the chance to define your involvement in your child’s learning environment while positively impacting their success academically, socially, and emotionally.
When your child sees your passion for school events, the excitement rubs off. Whether it’s a field trip, game night, or community service project, sharing experiences with your child helps them make greater gains in many aspects of their academic and social life.
We look forward to RECONNECTING and RE-ENGAGING as a community. I hope to see you there!
Thanks,
Heather
PSAT for Secondary 2 and 3 Students
The PSAT can:
- introduce students to the SAT format in a low-stress situation.
- provide baseline information on the student’s strengths and weaknesses in relation to the test content.
- give students some very good feedback on SAT preparedness and what specifically to brush up on for the SAT.
All secondary 2 and 3 students are highly encouraged to take the PSAT test scheduled for October 26th. Registration for the PSAT (form and payment) is due by October 4th. Please contact Mrs. Ivana (ivana-zivkovic@skopje.qsi.org) with any questions.

Biology: Hands-on and Authentic Learning
Students experience a significant increase in the amount of information that they retain when given the opportunity to practice what they are learning in the form of hands-on training. When students are given the ability to learn in a practical hands-on environment, they are very often engaged, stimulated, and empowered in their own learning while increasing critical thinking skills.
Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are the fundamental processes in the flow of energy and the cycling of matter. Photosynthesis is a complex topic that many students need help understanding. Using a hands-on experiment to demonstrate the process helps reinforce the concepts while creating meaning for students. Biology students conducted an experiment to model photosynthesis and cellular respiration to observe this process in real life.
