Message from Melissa
I have purposely put my end of the newsletter greeting above the "Coming Up in Social Studies" this week because I know everyone is freaking out about pacing and the end of the semester.
First, there are seven weeks of instruction left this semester.
I know you are freaking out even more. Just breathe. It will be alright! I promise. We are all in the same boat.
Second, everyone is tired and having Spring Break this late in the semester is tantamount to cruel and unusual punishment. (Don't look at next year, it is virtually the same!)
But, we have less than two weeks. We can do this!! Hang in there.
When thinking about the limited instructional time left and the fact that most of you (I promise you are not alone) are not on pace, just take a moment to a) breathe and b) prioritize. If you need help, please let me know.
Melissa

Thinking ahead, if you need to buy back some time, the trade unit can be shortened. Instead of a six-day unit, you could definitely be done in less time.

By this time next week, we will be wrapping up Unit 4. As you prepare for the unit assessment, remember there are questions already developed for the unit. You can even copy the assessment right into your PSL/Haiku class. To do this go to the PSL/Haiku Library (tab at the top of the page) and search for AM1. Click on the Unit 4 Assessment and add it to your class.
There is a digital break out box that was designed with the help of Alexis Callender from East that can be used to review the reforms in this unit. Here is the folder. These are the teacher directions, the student worksheet, and the first page for students. If you would like to use this but need help contact Melissa.
