A Note From the Office
This year, the office will be using a mail service called MailChimp to send out communication to families regarding important PVE news, dates, and upcoming events including the weekly Thursday Packet. If you are not receiving the Thursday Packet, please go to the following link (found in the bottom right corner of the PVE website at http://pve.lsr7.org/) to subscribe to the PVE Electronic Newsletter - http://pve.lsr7.org/prairie-view-elementary-electronic-newsletter/. After you subscribe, please be sure to check your spam (junk, promotional, etc) folder for any emails from Prairie View Elementary and/or Amy Fennewald and add these address to your address book. This will prevent the emails from going to spam in the future. Questions? Please contact Mrs. Fennewald at amy.fennewald@lsr7.netor 986-2280. Thank you!
This week we kicked off our government unit by watching a Kid President videohttp://youtu.be/4z7gDsSKUmU , and then answering questions on a graffiti wall that had the following questions:
1. If you were the President, what would you change in our country?
2. If you were the principal, what would you change in our school?
3. Why is it important to vote?
4. What is something that is unfair or unjust that you could change?
Next week the students will continue learning about our government. We will be focusing on sequencing events in our text. We will continue talking about the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and the Star Spangled Banner. At the end of the week, the students will be using what we have learned to write a classroom pledge, or declaration.
Grammar
We will be reviewing how to write in complete sentences. The students will be locating the subject and predicate of a sentence, as well as, identifying the noun, verb, and adjectives in the sentence.
Writing-
Writing a narrative will be our focus.
Math-
The students have worked hard on reviewing addition, writing story problems using key words, and rounding. Next week we will continue working on these skills, as well as, subtraction.
Science-
We will continue being good scientist by asking questions, forming a hypothesis, and learning about the scientific process.
